Pedro Alvarez belted his 30th homer of the season and drove home four as the Pirates topped the Mets 10-6 in New York on Tuesday.

He finished the night 1-for-2 plus two walks, with a run scored and four RBI. The 25-year-old third sacker has had a breakout season offensively, hitting .243/.321/.475 with 30 homers and 85 RBI. If he can learn to cut down on the strikeouts and develop more consistency at the plate, he has the talent to become one of the top hitters in the National League.
