O'Day has found more success against left-handed hitters this season due to a change in his slider usage, Nate Delong of Camden Depot reports.
EDGE Analysis
O'Day has limited left-handed hitters to a .129 BAA this season. That's remarkably lower than the .243 average that group managed in 2016. The explanation for this drastic improvement seems fairly simple. Compared to last year, O'Day has increased his slider usage against lefties in by seven percent. Furthermore, he's managed to throw the pitch for a strike more often while using it early in the count in 2017. The problem for O'Day is that the 34-year-old's marks against right-handed hitters have dipped greatly compared to previous campaigns.
