Jeffress will be in competition with Will Smith during spring training to determine the team's closer for Opening Day, Tom Haudricourt of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.
EDGE Analysis
After finding a home back with the Brewers late in 2014, Jeffress impressed in his first full MLB season, finishing with a 2.65 ERA and 1.27 WHIP while punching out 67 over 68 frames. The 28-year-old doesn't have any major league saves over the course of his career, and has little experience in the minors as well, but he'll get a shot to add that to his resume if he can earn the job out of spring training. However, Jeffress' upside could be limited by the fact that the Brewers are expected to be among the league's worst teams in 2016.
