Jeffress pitched a perfect ninth inning while striking out one to earn his first save of the season against the Giants on Wednesday.
EDGE Analysis
The Brewers entered the season with a plan to use Jeffress and Will Smith to close games based on the matchup, but an injury to Smith (knee) has paved the way for 28-year-old flamethrower to take the job and run with it. In 106.2 innings for Milwaukee dating back to 2014, Jeffress now owns a sharp 2.45 ERA with 101 strikeouts against 35 walks, good for a 162 ERA+ and 2.9 K/BB. The Brewers won't win many games, but the ones they do should be close which means Jeffress could have plenty of opportunities to be valuable in many formats.
