Jason Hammel held the Nationals to two runs while striking out seven over six innings in Friday's 7-2 victory.
The right-hander served up a long solo shot to Jayson Werth in the first inning but wasn't charged with another run until he left the game, as Neil Ramirez let his inherited runner score in the seventh. He allowed five hits and two walks on the day to go along with his seven punchouts. Hammel didn't have an ERA lower than 3.45 in any of the first three months of the season and is off to a nice start in July. He'll get the Reds on the road in his final start of the first half.
