Hernandez surrendered two earned runs on four hits over three innings in Sunday's 5-4 Cactus League loss to the A's.
EDGE Analysis
Hernandez had shown glimpses of his vintage self in his first spring start versus the White Sox on Tuesday, but he encountered a bit more trouble Sunday. The 31-year-old's first inning was particularly ragged, with Hernandez giving up an RBI double to Ryon Healy and run-scoring single to Mark Canha. However, he settled down in the second -- only giving up a harmless single -- before getting through his third and final frame in just nine pitches, recording whiffs of Adam Rosales and Stephen Vogt. His fastball consistently clocked between 91 and 92 mph in what was his final start before departing to play for Team Venezuela in the World Baseball Classic, leaving Hernandez fairly satisfied, especially with his final inning. "It feels good," he said of finishing strong. "I was more calm and more confident and I was throwing more strikes."
