Hammel struck out five and walked one while holding the Marlins to two runs on four hits over seven innings in a losing effort Friday afternoon. After a pair of rain delays shortened up his previous start against the Cards, Hammel bounced back against a Marlins club without Giancarlo Stanton on Friday. Hammel continues to thrive for the Cubs, as he currently has the highest strikeout rate (25.6% K% - career 18.0%) and lowest walk rate (4.4% BB% - career 7.4%) as a big leaguer. Hammel's final start before the All-Star break is scheduled for Wednesday against the Cardinals at Wrigley Field.
