Hammel had a strong outing on Thursday, allowing only one run after six innings against the Rangers. After a tough start to his career with the A's, Hammel has been very effective recently. Since August began, Hammel had appeared in nine games (eight starts) with a 2.49 ERA in 50.2 innings with 42 strikeouts. He only has two wins due to the A's extreme struggles on offense in that time period. Hammel will be a free agent heading into 2015 and should get a lot of attention from teams after his 2014 campaign.
