During Tuesday's press conference regarding Chris Carpenter, Cardinals general manager John Mozeliak downplayed the possibility of the club bringing back free agent right-hander Kyle Lohse.

"Right now we're comfortable with what we have," said Mozeliak, hinting that in-house options like Shelby Miller, Trevor Rosenthal and Joe Kelly will get the first crack at filling the void left by Carpenter. However, Mozeliak also said that if "something makes sense for us and as a group we feel it makes sense to consider, we may." Lohse posted a 2.86 ERA over 211 innings with the Cardinals in 2012 and has failed to draw much interest this winter because he is tied to draft pick compensation.
