Cubs manager Dale Sveum expects Matt Garza (lat strain) to be ready for Opening Day if he's able to resume throwing in the next few days.

Barring a setback, Garza is expected to throw sometime this week. The right-hander suffered a strained lat while throwing batting practice earlier this month, but it sounds like he'll be ready to roll by Opening Day as long as he doesn't have a setback. Garza, of course, is also coming back from a stress reaction in his pitching elbow.
