Closer Leo Nunez took the loss for the Marlins on Monday, allowing three runs on two hits and a walk in Florida's 7-4 setback in Colorado. After striking out Ty Wigginton to end the eighth, Nunez retired Mark Ellis to begin the ninth before taking an Eric Young grounder off of his pitching hand. He was able to throw Young out and stay in the game, but allowed back-to-back doubles to Dexter Fowler and Carlos Gonzalez before being ordered to intentionally walk Troy Tulowitzki. He was then relieved by Randy Choate, who served up a game-winning, three-run bomb to Jason Giambi. Although Nunez was able to continue pitching tonight, it wouldn't be surprising if his hand swells up and he is unavailable for the next few days. His status will be updated on Tuesday.
