Bass announced that he plans to continue his baseball career in the United States during the 2017 season.

Bass pitched for the Hokkaido Nippon-Ham Fighters in Japan last season, and went 8-8 with a 3.65 ERA in 14 starts and 23 relief appearances. That being said, the 29-year-old didn't see a lot of success stateside prior to leaving, as his 4.40 career ERA would suggest, which could hurt his prospects of garnering much of a role at the major league level.
