Alex Avila will undergo tests for a possible concussion. Avila evidently must have caught a foul ball or two off the mask that shook him up and eventually forced him from the game. He's been sent to the hospital, and the Tigers should have an update on his status Friday. Avila entered Thursday batting .256/.337/.463 with four homers and 23 RBI in 23 games since returning from the DL.
