According to Jack Magruder of FOX Sports Southwest, the Diamondbacks plan to sign a long-term extension "soon" with newly-acquired third baseman Martin Prado.

Prado is headed to Arizona in the yet-to-be-finalized Justin Upton blockbuster. The 29-year-old third baseman is currently scheduled to hit the free agent market after the 2013 season. He batted .301/.359/.438 with 10 home runs, 70 RBI and 17 steals in 156 games last summer and will hold major fantasy potential in Arizona.
