Howie Kendrick is not in the Angels' starting lineup Monday against the Athletics.
We haven't heard anything about an injury, so we're assuming he's just getting the night off. Maicer Izturis will start in his place at second base and bat second against right-hander Tyson Ross.

Howie Kendrick provided all of the offensive support that Jared Weaver would need in his no-hitter, going 4-for-4 with a home run in the Angels 9-0 victory over the Twins on Wednesday.
Kendrick scored three runs and drove home three in the game. He's been on an absolute tear offensively as of late, raising his average to .297 with the four hit effort. He now has four homers and 11 RBI on the season, proving that the power outburst he displayed in 2011 was no fluke.

Howie Kendrick went 3-for-5 with two doubles and three RBI as the Angels topped the Orioles 6-3 on Friday.
Kendrick has four three-hit games already this season. Unfortunately, he's gone 4-for-36 in his other nine contests, so he still has pretty modest statistics for the season (.286, 1 HR, 6 R, 6 RBI in 56 AB).

Howie Kendrick went 3-for-5 with a double and run scored in Sunday's loss to the Royals.
Hitting in front of Albert Pujols, Kendrick finishes the Angels' season-opening series 5-for-12 (.417). Coming off a career season in 2011, he should be in store for an even better 2012.

Howie Kendrick hit a three-run homer in Monday's loss to the Rockies.
Kendrick's third-inning blast off of Juan Nicasio was the extent of the Halos' offense this afternoon. Hitting .467/.500/.800 to go along with three home runs this spring, it doesn't look like Kendrick is headed for a complacent 2012 after signing a four-year, $33.5 million extension in January.

Howie Kendrick blasted his second spring homer on Wednesday as part of a 3-for-3 outing against the White Sox.
Few guys are more locked in right now than Kendrick. Through 18 at-bats, he has amassed a hearty .611/.619/1.000 batting line, and has yet to strike out. The seven runs scored and seven RBI aren't too shabby, either.

Howie Kendrick went 2-for-2 with a home run, two RBI, two runs scored and a walk in Monday's win over the A's.
An excellent Cactus League debut for Kendrick, who hit .364/.413/.439 last spring before batting .285/.338/.464 during the regular season. Hitting in front of Albert Pujols, Kendrick's numbers could inch even higher this year.

Angels and 2B Howie Kendrick avoided arbitration by agreeing to a four-year, $33.5 million contract extension.
The deal buys out Kendrick's final year of arbitration and his first three years of free agency. The 28-year-old second baseman has a .292/.329/.434 batting line over his first six seasons in the big leagues and posted career-highs in 2011 with 18 homers, a .464 slugging percentage and an .802 OPS. He should enjoy hitting in front of Albert Pujols for the next few years.

According to FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal, the Angels have reached a four-year extension with Howie Kendrick.
No word yet on the financial terms of the deal. Kendrick was entering his final year of arbitration-eligibility, and was due a significant raise from the $3.3 million salary that he earned in 2011. The 28-year-old second baseman posted a solid .285/.338/.464 batting line last season with 18 home runs, 63 RBI and 14 stolen bases.

The Angels have begun preliminary discussions about multi-year contracts with the agents for Howie Kendrick and Erick Aybar, reports Mike DiGiovanna of the Los Angeles Times.
"At this point, it's something we've begun to explore and will continue to explore," said Angels general manager Jerry Dipoto. "There is no timetable, but certainly, it's something we're interested in pursuing." Kendrick made $3.3 million in 2011 while Aybar earned $3 million, but both players should see sizable raises in their final year of arbitration. DiGiovanna speculates that they would each command four-year deals worth more than $30 million.
