This will be the first game Kendrick has spent out of the lineup since June 8 as he earns a breather for the matinee start Thursday. In the first two games of this series, Kendrick has gone 6-for-9 with two runs but will take a seat in favor of Andres Blanco, who is filling in at second while batting seventh.

Kendrick went 3-for-4 with a walk and a run scored in Tuesday's 8-1 loss to the Cardinals.

It's his third straight multi-hit performance, and Kendrick is now hitting .344 (22-for-64) in June with a homer, five steals, six RBI and six runs in 16 games. The veteran will eventually cool down -- he came into Tuesday's game with a sky-high .410 BABIP on the season -- but if he's able to continue running as he has been this month, Kendrick will retain some fantasy value even if his batting average plummets.

Kendrick is expected to take over at second base if Cesar Hernandez hits the disabled list with an oblique injury, Jim Salisbury of CSN Philadelphia reports.

Kendrick has been seeing fairly regular playing time in left field since returning from his own oblique injury. If he shifts to second base, that will open up additional playing time in the outfield for Michael Saunders and Daniel Nava.
