Kendrick started at second base Tuesday, but manager Pete Mackanin affirmed after the game that he remains the team's primary left fielder, Jim Salisbury of CSN Philadelphia reports.

EDGE Analysis

Mackanin said they want to give Kendrick some looks in the infield this spring in case a need arises during the regular season. The veteran will likely get a start at third base and possibly at first base before camp ends.

Kendrick is off to a slow start this spring with just one hit in 11 at-bats.

EDGE Analysis

Kendrick isn't fighting for a job, so his spring training stats are fairly meaningless. He will open the season as the Phillies starting left fielder and is likely to hit second most days behind Cesar Hernandez and in front of Odubel Herrera.

Kendrick is expected to be the Phillies' everyday left fielder in 2017, Todd Zolecki of MLB.com reports.

EDGE Analysis

This is what the Phillies are saying now, but there's always a chance Kendrick could shift to second base if Cesar Hernandez is moved this offseason. Kendrick was acquired from Los Angeles on Friday in exchange for Darin Ruf and Darnell Sweeney after formally requesting a trade last week.

Kendrick was traded to the Phillies on Friday in exchange for Darnell Sweeney and Darin Ruf.

EDGE Analysis

Kendrick made it known that he was frustrated with his role within the Dodgers' organization and preferred a trade, and he got his wish. At the moment, there's some uncertainty as to where Kendrick will play with Philadelphia, but Cesar Hernandez has been a popular name in trade rumors, and Kendrick would presumably step in as the everyday second baseman if Hernandez is moved. Kendrick, now 33, hit .255/.326/.366 with eight homers and 10 steals in 146 games in 2016.

The Dodgers are exploring trades involving Kendrick, Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports reports.

EDGE Analysis

Kendrick, who's traditionally played second base, wasn't pleased with his role over the course of the 2016 season. Rather than start at second, the Dodgers primarily started Kendrick in left field and gave him occasional chances to play around the infield. Although the Dodgers are shopping Kendrick around, the 33-year-old's performance at the plate certainly didn't make a case to improve his trade value. Kendrick managed to scrap together a batting average of just .255, which was a vast regression coming off three straight seasons that saw him hit above .290.

Kendrick is out of the lineup for Sunday's Game 2 against the Cubs.

EDGE Analysis

The Dodgers have been utilizing Howie Kendrick against left-handed starters during the playoffs, but it looks like Andrew Toles will continue to occupy the larger portion of the platoon. With righty Kyle Hendricks starting for the Cubs on Sunday, Toles will man left field and bat eighth in the order.

Kendrick is not in the lineup Tuesday for Game 4 of the Dodgers' NLDS matchup with the Nationals.

EDGE Analysis

Kendrick started Monday's game with left-hander Gio Gonzalez on the mound, but with righty Joe Ross starting for the opposition Tuesday, manager Dave Roberts decided to turn back to left-handed hitter Andrew Toles, who also started Games 1 and 2. Kendrick received two at-bats in both those contests, so he figures to see action off the bench at some point in Game 4.

Kendrick is in the lineup Monday for Game 3 of the Dodgers' NLDS matchup with the Nationals.

EDGE Analysis

Kendrick did not start the first two games of the series, but he will get the nod over Andrew Toles in left field with southpaw Gio Gonzalez getting the start for the Nationals. With Chase Utley also out Monday, Kendrick will hit out of the leadoff spot for the Dodgers.

Kendrick went 3-for-6 with two doubles, a run and two RBI in Sunday's 10-9 loss to the Diamondbacks.

EDGE Analysis

Kendrick batted leadoff for the first time since Sept. 13 and responded with a trio of hits, breaking out of a 5-for-32 skid. The doubles were Kendrick's first extra-base hits of September, and he'd managed just one RBI this month prior to Sunday. The 33-year-old has been slumping since mid-August, but perhaps his multi-hit effort can help him finish the season on a high note.

Kendrick is out of the lineup Thursday against the Diamondbacks.

EDGE Analysis

This is the second day in a row Kendrick will be kept on the bench, but it's likely just to rest him for the ensuing postseason push. Andre Ethier will draw the start in left field to replace him.
