Covey (shoulder) is scheduled to throw a side session Thursday, Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.
EDGE Analysis
If Thursday's session goes off without a hitch, Covey will throw another side session in a few days before potentially being cleared to face live hitters. The right-hander has been on the shelf since June 9 with shoulder inflammation.

Covey (shoulder) threw a bullpen session Saturday followed by playing catch out to 150 feet Sunday, Brian Sandalow of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.
EDGE Analysis
Covey reported no setbacks from the throwing sessions and feels it is a step in the right direction. It's good news for Covey and the White Sox, who watched fill-in Odrisamer Despaigne get rocked by the Yankees on Sunday.

Covey (shoulder) played catch Friday and expects to throw off a mound Saturday, LaMond Pope of the Chicago Tribune reports.
EDGE Analysis
Covey was placed on the injured list last week with shoulder inflammation that's been bothering him for a while. He'd been able to get himself ready every fifth day but eventually needed to shut down for a bit. "I feel much better now," Covey said. "I've had a few days off. We're taking it day by day." Covey is 1-4 with a 4.58 ERA in nine games (seven starts).

The White Sox placed Covey on the 10-day injured list Sunday with right shoulder inflammation.
EDGE Analysis
According to Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times, Covey has been contending with the sore shoulder for his last few starts, the most recent of which came June 5 in Washington. Covey indicated that a recent MRI revealed "nothing alarming," but he'll nonetheless require further evaluation when the team returns to Chicago on Monday. The White Sox will first require a replacement in the rotation for Covey either Monday or Tuesday against the Nationals.

Covey allowed two runs on seven hits with four strikeouts and a walk across five innings during a no-decision against the Nationals on Wednesday.
EDGE Analysis
When he departed, the Nationals led 2-1, and they increased that lead to three runs, but the White Sox offense came back to tie the game, getting Covey off the hook. This is the first time all season Covey strung together two straight decent starts. He allowed three runs over 11 frames in those two outings. Covey is 1-4 with a 4.58 ERA, 1.45 WHIP and 22 strikeouts in 37.1 innings this season. He will get another crack at the Nationals at home Tuesday.

Covey (1-4) picked up the victory after allowing one run on eight hits and one walk while striking out five over six innings Friday night against the Indians.
EDGE Analysis
Covey gave up a solo home run in the first inning, but he settled down and hurled five scoreless frames to close out his night. The 27-year-old right-hander finally managed to pick up his first win of the 2019 season in his sixth start, and he now owns a 4.73 ERA and 1.42 WHIP with an 18:19 K:BB over 32.1 innings.

Covey (0-4) coughed up four runs on two walks and three hits across six innings, striking out six and taking the loss against the Twins on Sunday.
EDGE Analysis
Covey actually had a fairly decent outing that was cursed by a troubling third inning. Max Kepler doubled in a run before Eddie Rosario took him deep for a three-run shot. The 27-year-old's ERA was on the rise again after Sunday, jumping to 5.47 across 26.1 innings. He'll take an ugly 13:18 K:BB into Friday's home start against Cleveland.

Covey (0-3) took the loss Tuesday, allowing four runs on four hits and four walks over four innings while striking out one as the White Sox fell 5-1 to the Astros.
EDGE Analysis
The right-hander has lasted past five innings only once in four starts since moving into the rotation, and it's not because he's on a limited pitch count -- Covey threw 55 of 86 pitches for strikes before getting the hook Tuesday, and managed a pitiful two swinging strikes. He'll carry a 5.31 ERA and 7:16 K:BB through 20.1 innings into his next outing Sunday in Minnesota.

Covey allowed two runs (one earned) on two hits and two walks while striking out one over 5.2 innings in Thursday's 4-2 win over the Blue Jays.
EDGE Analysis
Covey allowed both of his hits in the second inning, including a leadoff home run, then set down 12 straight. He was in line for a potential win, but a Yoan Moncada throwing error enabled an unearned, tying run to score in the sixth, leaving the right-hander with a no-decision. Covey got deeper into the game Thursday than he had in his previous two starts, an encouraging sign as he fills in for the injured Carlos Rodon (elbow). The White Sox may eventually bring up talented prospect Dylan Cease, but that may not happen until the second half of the season. Covey will next start Monday on the road against the powerful Astros.

Covey (0-2) allowed four runs on three hits and five walks while striking out three over 4.2 innings. He took the loss Friday against the Blue Jays.
EDGE Analysis
Covey surrendered all four of his runs via the long ball, giving up a three-run blast in the first inning followed by a solo homer in the second. The 27-year-old has made just two starts since joining the rotation, though he's failed to work past the fifth inning on both occasions. Covey will aim to work deeper into the ballgame in his next outing, which is slated for Thursday, also against Toronto.
