Pomeranz (elbow) has begun to throw at 75-80 percent during his bullpen sessions, Joe Harris of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Pomeranz has been tossing bullpens for over a week, but he only recently upped his intensity. That suggests that the left-handed reliever is getting closer to a return, though Padres manager Bob Melvin stated that the team is leery of rushing Pomeranz back too quickly given his past injuries. "I know he's going to get back out there, it's really good to have him back, but you don't want to push that because he's had some injuries in the past too," Melvin said. Though a clear timeline remains uncertain, Pomeranz is expected to return to action sometime in June.

Pomeranz (elbow) tossed a bullpen session Saturday and will throw another early this week, the Associated Press reports.
EDGE Analysis
Pomeranz has yet to pitch this season after undergoing flexor tendon surgery on his left elbow last August, but he appears to be taking steps toward a return. San Diego is expected to make a decision on his next steps following his next bullpen session, and the left-hander could be getting close to a rehab assignment. A return to big-league action in early-to-mid June appears to be a possibility.

Pomeranz (elbow) has been regularly playing catch from 120 feet but hasn't yet thrown from a mound, AJ Cassavell of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Pomeranz is eligible to return from the injured list in less than a month, but it's unclear if he'll be immediately ready given where he is at in his recovery at this point. The left-hander figures to play a prominent role in San Diego's bullpen whenever he is able to return.

The Padres placed Pomeranz (elbow) on the 60-day injured list Monday, Jeff Sanders of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.
EDGE Analysis
San Diego's decision to place Pomeranz on the 60-day IL frees up a spot on the 40-man roster for infielder/outfielder Matt Beaty, whom the team acquired via trade from the Dodgers in a corresponding move. The Padres had already ruled out Pomeranz for the start of the season while he remains limited to throwing off flat ground in his rehab program from elbow surgery, and the transaction now ensures that he'll remain sidelined until at least early June. Due to the time he'll miss to begin the season, Pomeranz appears unlikely to factor into the Padres' unsettled closer situation, at least not initially when he ultimately returns.

Pomeranz is playing catch but remains doubtful for Opening Day as he works his way back from flexor tendon surgery, AJ Cassavell of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Pomeranz underwent the procedure back in August. While it's a positive that he's been able to play catch, he's yet to throw off a mound. The lefty has closer upside once he's eventually healthy, as he owns a 1.62 ERA and a 33.7 percent strikeout rate over the last two innings, but injuries have unfortunately been the story throughout much of the veteran's career.

Pomeranz (forearm) was transferred to the 60-day injured list Friday.
EDGE Analysis
Pomeranz has been ruled out for the season after he underwent surgery to repair a torn flexor tendon last week, so his move to the 60-day IL is simply procedural. The transaction makes room for Jurickson Profar, who was reinstated from the COVID-19 injured list Friday.

Pomeranz (torn flexor tendon) will have surgery Wednesday and will miss the remainder of the season, Annie Heilbrunn of the San Diego Union-Tribune reports.
EDGE Analysis
Pomeranz had been sidelined with left forearm inflammation -- his second IL stint with that designation over the past six weeks. He also missed significant time earlier this season with a lat injury. Pomeranz is under contract with San Diego for the 2022 and 2023 seasons. He finishes the year with a 1.75 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and 30 strikeouts in 25.2 innings.

Pomeranz was placed on the 10-day injured list Wednesday due to right forearm inflammation, Jeff Sanders of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.
EDGE Analysis
Though he scooped up his 13th hold of the season and lowered his ERA to 1.75 during his relief appearance in Tuesday's win over the Marlins, Pomeranz exited the contest after experiencing pain in his forearm, an injury manager Jayce Tingler indicated was "very similar" to what the lefty has dealt with off and on throughout the season, per Dennis Lin of The Athletic. Pomeranz could be sent in for additional tests before the Padres have a clear sense of when he'll be ready to return, but given the recurring nature of his forearm problems, it wouldn't be surprising if he was sidelined for more than the minimum 10 days.

Pomeranz (1-0) won Saturday's 6-2 match with the Diamondbacks, allowing one hit in the eighth inning.
EDGE Analysis
Pomeranz took over a 2-2 game in the eighth and fired 11 of 13 pitches for strikes to keep Arizona off the board before San Diego scored four runs in the bottom of the inning to put the lefty in line for the win. Surprisingly enough, this was Pomeranz's first decision despite appearing in 26 games and he now sports a robust 1.80 ERA with 10 walks and 30 strikeouts in 25 innings.

Pomeranz earned a hold in Friday's contest against Miami, pitching a scoreless inning during which he gave up on one walk and struck out one batter.
EDGE Analysis
Pomeranz came on to protect a three-run lead in the eighth inning. Though he walked the first batter he faced, the lefty reliever subsequently induced a double play before striking out Adam Duvall to end the frame. Since returning from the injured list last weekend, Pomeranz has given up one earned run and notched a 3:1 K:BB while collecting two holds over three one-inning outings.
