Miami Marlins second baseman Dee Gordon was placed on the 15-day disabled list Friday retroactive to July 12 due to a dislocated left thumb, according to the Palm Beach Post. Gordon appears to have escaped serious ligament damage however and is not expected to miss a significant amount of time.

Gordon (thumb) will not go on the disabled list for the time being, but he won't play in the series against the Phillies following the All-Star break, Joe Frisaro of MLB.com reports. However, he's the Marlins hope he can rejoin the team soon after that series.
Gordon dislocated his thumb in Saturday's game, and the club hopes it won't keep him out much beyond the break. It will likely just depend on how quickly the injury heals, but the club will probably turn to the combination of Derek Dietrich and Miguel Rojas at the position in the meantime.

Gordon (thumb) does not have any ligament damage in his dislocated thumb and the team hopes that he will only miss two weeks, Ken Rosenthal of Fox reports.
This is encouraging news for Gordon, who left Saturday's game with a dislocated thumb. It has already been announced that Gordon will miss the All-Star game, but the added recovery time over the break could have him back without missing a significant number of games if he does not suffer any setbacks.

Manager Dan Jennings stated that Gordon (thumb) has no fractures and the team believes he avoided any ligament damage as well, Joe Frisaro of MLB.com reports.
Gordon appears to have avoided any broken bones in his dislocated thumb, but the team is yet to officially confirm whether there is any ligament damage. There has been no announcement of a DL stint to this point, but Frisaro reported that Martin Prado (shoulder) could fill in at second base should Gordon be sidelined for a significant amount of time.

Gordon has been diagnosed with a dislocated left thumb, Joe Frisaro of MLB.com reports.
There's no word on how long Gordon's thumb injury will keep him on the shelf, but this is a huge blow to the Marlins and fantasy owners. Gordon is fifth in the majors in batting average and second overall in stolen bases, making him a premier fantasy asset. There is no set timetable for Gordon's return at this point, the dislocated thumb in 2012 sidelined him for a considerable amount of time. More information on his status should be available following Saturday's game.

Gordon (left thumb) exited Saturday's game against Cincinnati after sliding in to first base, MLB.com writer Joe Frisaro reports.
According to Frisaro, Gordon looked "badly hurt." A right thumb dislocation landed Gordon on the 60-Day DL back in 2012, but hopefully this injury to the other thumb isn't as severe. The general tone in the reporting on Gordon's injury from Saturday puts his availability for the All-Star Game in doubt.

Gordon had a monster night at the dish Thursday, going 2-for-3 with a walk, two runs scored and three stolen bases.
Gordon abused the opposing battery of Michael Lorenzen and Tucker Barnhart (though he was caught once as well) to push his stolen base total to 33 as he trails on Billy Hamilton in the category. The speedy second baseman has slumped a bit at the dish of late and has seen his average from 34 points down to .336 since the start of June. Still, he's swiped six bags in his past six games and remains a constant threat on the base paths.

Gordon hit his first home run of the season, a three-run inside-the-parker off Ryan Vogelsong in Tuesday's game against the Giants.
It took just one mishandle by the Giants outfield for Gordon to stretch a clear triple to the right field gap into his first homer in 708 plate appearances. It was a total bizarro game for Gordon, who went hitless in his other four at-bats. His .351 average still leads the major leagues, but Paul Goldschmidt (.350) is nipping at his heels.

Gordon was 3-for-5 with a run scored and a stolen base in a losing effort against the Dodgers on Friday night.
He has 110 hits (a lofty .356 average) which easily leads baseball, and 26 stolen bases while hitting at the top of the order in front of the major league leader in home runs, Giancarlo Stanton, yet amazingly he has scored a mediocre 39 runs. To put that in perspective, 44 players have scored more runs. Obviously, that somehow doesn't quite seem to add up, so if he can keep getting on base, owners should expect to see a spike in runs scored at some point as the season progresses.
