Price was placed on the injured list with left elbow tendinitis Monday, Chris Cotillo of MassLive.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Price has been pitching well this season, recording a 3.75 ERA and a career-best 29.6 percent strikeout rate, so the injury comes as something of a surprise. The transaction was made retroactive to Friday, so Price would be eligible to return as soon as May 14, though the Red Sox have yet to give any indication of how long they expect the lefty to be out. Ryan Weber will take his place on the roster, but Boston has some time to figure out a potential replacement in the rotation with three off days in the next 11 days.

Price didn't factor into the decision against the White Sox on Thursday, giving up three earned runs on seven hits over six innings, striking out five and walking two as the Red Sox eventually fell 6-4.
EDGE Analysis
Price tossed a quality start but was forced to settle for the no-decision after the White Sox staged a late comeback against his bullpen. The left-hander has a 3.75 ERA, a 1.14 WHIP and a 42:10 K:BB through 36 innings and is slated to take on the Orioles in a road matchup on Tuesday.

Price (1-2) allowed two runs on four hits with seven strikeouts and three walks across six innings in a loss to the Rays on Saturday.
EDGE Analysis
None of the walks Price yielded came around to score, but he gave up a solo home run and an RBI single, which was enough for the loss. The result is disappointing, but Price has pitched a lot better lately, posting a 2.00 ERA in his last three starts. Overall, Price is 1-2 with a 3.60 ERA, 1.07 WHIP and 37 strikeouts in 30 innings over five starts. His next scheduled start is on the road Thursday against the White Sox.

Price is scheduled to start Saturday against the Rays, Chris Cotillo of MassLive.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Price was originally lined up to get the ball Friday, but manager Alex Cora apparently wanted to keep him and Chris Sale back-to-back in the rotation. As such, Price will move back to start Saturday while Sale gets the ball Sunday and Friday's starter remains undecided. The 33-year-old Price has been solid through four starts this season, compiling a 3.75 ERA, 1.04 WHIP and 30:5 K:BB through 24 innings.

Price allowed two runs on two walks and five hits in five innings during Sunday's win over the Rays. He struck out 10 batters and took the no-decision.
EDGE Analysis
Sunday was Price's first 10-strikeout game this season; his first double-digit strikeout game didn't come until August last season. Sunday's strong outing gives the veteran lefty a wonderful 30:5 K:BB in 24 innings this season. Price will look for his second win of the year in Friday's rematch against the Rays.

Price (1-1) secured his first win of the season by allowing three hits and striking out seven over seven scoreless innings Sunday against the Orioles.
EDGE Analysis
Price surrendered four runs in each of his first two outings, but he brought his best stuff to the ballpark Sunday and was rewarded for his efforts. The 33-year-old lefty pounded the strike zone, firing 64 of 92 pitches for strikes. Price will carry a 3.79 ERA with 20 punchouts over 19 frames into his upcoming start Saturday in Tampa Bay.

Price didn't factor into the decision in Saturday's 5-4 loss to the Diamondbacks, allowing four runs on seven hits and a walk over six innings while striking out four.
EDGE Analysis
All four runs scored in the second inning as Arizona strung together five of their seven hits off the southpaw, and the damage could have been even worse if Adam Jones hadn't been thrown out at second to end the frame trying to stretch a single into a double. With the Red Sox plugging Hector Velasquez into the rotation Sunday for a spot start and a couple off days coming next week, Price will get some extra rest before he takes the mound again April 14 in a home start against the Orioles.

Price (0-1) allowed four runs on five hits and struck out nine over six innings in a loss to the Athletics on Monday. He walked two.
EDGE Analysis
Price was dominant at times with a 14 percent swinging-strike rate, but also surrendered three home runs that ultimately led to his exit. Usually more of a flyball pitcher, Price's 1.3 HR/9 from 2018 was the highest of his career. The left hander will look to bounce back in his next start Saturday at Chase Field.

Price (illness) will make his 2019 debut Monday against the Athletics.
EDGE Analysis
As expected, Price will toe the rubber for the first time this season in Oakland after being pushed back to the No. 5 spot in the rotation due to illness. He isn't expected to be held to a pitch count.

Price (illness) will be under no limitations Monday when he makes his season debut against the Athletics, Chris Cotillo of MassLive.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Price was pushed back to the fifth spot in the rotation after dealing with an illness at the end of spring training. His start takes one added significance after Boston's first four starters, who lasted a total of 15 innings, were bludgeoned by the Mariners. The Red Sox bring up the rear of MLB with a 13.20 starters' ERA. Getting deep into the game and protecting the bullpen is needed.
