Posey went 3-for-4 with a trio of doubles, three RBI and two runs scored in Friday's 8-0 victory over the Padres.

EDGE Analysis

Posey put his gap power on display, tallying three extra-base hits in the same game for just the second time this season. The cold San Francisco night ate up his second double, which likely would have resulted in a home run in almost any other combination of climate and venue. The All-Star backstop hasn't hit a homer in 36 games, but he has offset the power drought with a .303 batting average and 16 RBI over that span.

Posey is not in the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Diamondbacks, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.

EDGE Analysis

Posey missed time with a toe injury earlier this month, but there has been nothing to suggest this absence is related. It seems manager Bruce Bochy is just affording Posey an extended breather -- the team is off Thursday -- so he's well rested for the final series in front of the home crowd this weekend. Posey hasn't homered since Aug. 8 and thus is on pace to see his home-run production decline for a third straight season.

Posey (toe) is starting at catcher and batting fourth Tuesday against the Rockies, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.

EDGE Analysis

Posey is good to go after missing Sunday's contest with a minor toe injury. This issue wasn't thought to be anything overly serious, so it isn't too surprising to see him back in action after Monday's off day. The All-Star backstop, who is slashing .313/.397/.454 with 12 homers in 130 games this season, with face German Marquez in his return to the lineup.

Posey, who is not in the lineup Sunday, is dealing with a minor toe injury, Andrew Baggarly of The San Jose Mercury News reports.

EDGE Analysis

Posey was withheld from the starting lineup Sunday after fouling a ball off his left big toe Saturday. Manager Bruce Bochy confirmed that the injury isn't anything overly serious, Henry Schulman of the San Francisco Chronicle reports, so the star backstop will be listed as day-to-day moving forward. The Giants are off Monday, so it wouldn't be surprising to see Posey back in the lineup Tuesday against the Rockies.

Posey is not in the lineup for Sunday's game against the Diamondbacks, Henry Schulman of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

EDGE Analysis

Hitless in his last 10 at-bats, Posey will receive the afternoon off as the Giants close out their weekend series against the Diamondbacks. Nick Hundley will take over behind the plate and bat seventh in his stead.

Posey made his first start behind the dish since suffering a finger injury Sept. 5. He went 2-for-3 with a walk in Sunday's loss to the White Sox.

EDGE Analysis

The Giants eased their star catcher back into action as a designated hitter over the weekend, but he should resume regular catching duties after Sunday's successful return to the field. Continue to roll out Posey and his healthy .320/.406/.465 slash line.

Posey is in the lineup Friday against the White Sox.

EDGE Analysis

With the Giants playing in an American League ballpark, they'll be able to use Posey at the DH spot. Posey, who's hitting .435 with a 1.065 OPS over the last seven games, will look to continue his terrific performance at the plate when Lucas Giolito heads to the hill for Chicago on Friday night.

Posey (finger) is not in the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Rockies, Henry Schulman of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

EDGE Analysis

Posey was removed from Tuesday's game with an injured right finger/hand. The catcher underwent X-rays following his exit, which came back negative, but with a scheduled off day Thursday, manager Bruce Bochy decided to give him Wednesday off to recover. He should be considered day-to-day prior to Friday's game against the White Sox, and he will likely spend a game or two as the DH during the weekend series. In his place, Nick Hundley draws the start for Wednesday's finale.

X-rays on Posey's injured right finger/hand came back negative Tuesday, Henry Schulman of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

EDGE Analysis

Posey was fortunate to avoid a serious injury after taking a hard foul tip off his bare hand during Tuesday's contest. The testing done on his hand revealed a contusion on his ring finger with a fair amount of swelling. The star backstop likely won't require a trip to the disabled list, but he could be sidelined for a day or two as he waits for the bruise to heal on his injured finger. He'll be a day-to-day case moving forward.

Posey exited Tuesday's game against the Rockies in the eighth inning with an apparent right hand injury, Andrew Baggarly of The San Jose Mercury News reports.

EDGE Analysis

Posey was struck on his bare right hand by a foul tip in the bottom of the eighth inning. He immediately jumped up from the catching position and appeared to be in quite a bit of pain. He was removed from the game and will likely undergo tests in the coming hours to reveal the severity of the injury.
