Alburquerque was called up by the White Sox on Friday.

EDGE Analysis

Alburquerque will join the 40-man roster, along with Chris Volstad, prior to Friday's game with the Giants, putting the White Sox at full capacity. After signing a minor-league deal with the club in early August, the right-hander has compiled a 4.91 ERA and 1.36 WHIP over the course of 11 innings for Triple-A Charlotte. Alburquerque figures to be deployed in low-leverage situations out of Chicago's bullpen moving forward.

Alburquerque signed a minor-league contract with the White Sox on Friday, Dan Hayes of CSN Chicago reports.

EDGE Analysis

Less than a week after being released by the Royals, Alburquerque has found a new home in the White Sox's organization. He will report to Triple-A Charlotte. Once considered a potential future closer during his time with Detroit, Alburquerque has been quite good at the Triple-A level this year, and it's possible he will get a chance with the big-league club later this season.

Alburquerque was officially released by the Royals on Saturday.

EDGE Analysis

This move comes just five days after the club designated Alburquerque for assignment. The 31-year-old provided a steady presence out of the bullpen for Kansas City this season, posting a 3.60 ERA and 1.30 WHIP, but the team decided to go in another direction and made deals to acquire more relief depth for a playoff chase.

Alburquerque was designated for assignment by the Royals on Monday.

EDGE Analysis

The Royals made a flurry of moves Monday topped off by a trade to acquire Brandon Maurer and Ryan Buchter from the Padres, so Alburquerque was no longer needed in the big leagues. The right-hander performed fine during his time in Kansas City, notching a 3.60 ERA in 10 innings pitched, but now he'll serve as an organizational depth piece if he clears waivers.

Alburquerque Arden Zwelling of Sportsnet.ca from Triple-A Omaha on Monday.

EDGE Analysis

Albuequerque is back up with the big club for a second time this season after being dropped from the 40-man earlier in the year. He owns a 6.75 ERA and 6:3 K:BB through four major-league innings this season. In order to clear room on the roster, Eric Skoglund was sent to Triple-A while Matt Strahm was transferred to the 60-day DL.

Alburquerque cleared waivers and was outrighted to Triple-A Omaha on Tuesday.

EDGE Analysis

The 30-year-old was designated for assignment on May 21 following five poor appearances out of the big-league bullpen, and it seems like those rough outings were enough to deter any suitors from plucking him off waivers. Alburquerque will now move into an organizational depth role for the Royals.

Alburquerque was designated for assignment Sunday, Mike Berardino of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.

EDGE Analysis

Alburquerque was recalled from Triple-A Omaha on May 10 but was ineffective in five relief appearances following his promotion. The 30-year-old allowed three earned runs on two hits and three walks over four innings of relief. Alburquerque has seven years of major-league experience, so there's a decent chance that he's claimed by another big-league club. If not, he'll be assigned back to Triple-A Omaha.

Alburquerque, despite allowing two runs over an inning of work, picked up his first hold of 2017 in Sunday's win over the Orioles.

EDGE Analysis

Alburquerque notched 34 holds for the Tigers from 2013-15, but he stumbled through the minor leagues last season. He's made it back under the MLB lights, but his low-leverage role in the team's bullpen offers little fantasy appeal.

The Royals selected Alburquerque's contract from Triple-A Omaha on Wednesday.

EDGE Analysis

Alburquerque has been throwing well at Omaha this season. He's pitched in 11 games (13.2 innings) and posted a 2.63 ERA and 1.17 WHIP in that time. Alburquerque has had a fair share of experience in the majors as well. In his career he's thrown 227 innings over 243 games, during which he's compiled a 3.21 ERA and 1.34 WHIP.

Alburquerque received a spring training invite from the Royals on Saturday, JEffrey Flanagan of MLB.com reports.

EDGE Analysis

After five years in the Detroit organization that included an excellent season in 2014, Alburquerque split his time in 2016 between the Seattle and Anaheim organizations. He only saw two major league innings that year though, as control issues seemed to keep him at the Triple-A level. If he can show some old form in spring training, he should have a shot at regular time in a major league bullpen again.
