Griffin (oblique) was transferred to the 60-day disabled list Monday.

EDGE Analysis

The Rangers called to the minors for bullpen reinforcements, but since their choice Tanner Scheppers wasn't on the 40-man roster, the team opted to give him Griffin's roster spot. Griffin isn't expected to resume throwing for a couple more weeks, so this was a fairly easy move for the team to make. However, it does mean that the earliest the right-hander can return is later in July in order to fulfill the minimum 60-day stay required of this DL.

Griffin (oblique) isn't expected to resume throwing off a mound for at least a couple of weeks, Stefan Stevenson of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports.

EDGE Analysis

Griffin threw long toss on flat ground Tuesday, but the Rangers aren't eager to have him pitch off a slope just yet while he continues to battle a strained oblique, the same injury that's afflicting Cole Hamels. It's uncertain if he'll be able to return from the disabled list before the All-Star break.

Griffin (oblique) played catch Saturday for the second time since landing on the 10-day disabled list, Jeff Wilson of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports.

EDGE Analysis

Griffin experienced no renewed soreness with his strained right oblique during the session, but the right-hander isn't sure when he'll be ready to throw off a mound again. With both Tyson Ross (shoulder) and Cole Hamels (oblique) seemingly further along in their respective recoveries, Griffin may not have a rotation spot waiting for him once he's activated from the disabled list.

Griffin (intercostal) has been placed on the 10-day disabled list, Evan Grant of the Dallas Morning News reports.

EDGE Analysis

Griffin didn't make it through two innings before the side injury forced him out of Friday's game. It wasn't an oblique injury, as was the initial concern, but the intercostal strain will keep him out for at least 10 days. Dillon Gee was called up to take Griffin's spot on the roster.

Griffin left Friday's game with a left intercostal strain, Evan Grant of The Dallas Morning News reports.

EDGE Analysis

There was some initial concern that Griffin had suffered an oblique injury, but an intercostal strain could still be enough to force him to the disabled list. The Rangers already have five pitchers on the disabled list and will need reinforcements for their bullpen considering Griffin exited in the second inning on Friday. If Griffin does indeed need to go on the disabled list, expect the Rangers to make the decision swiftly.

Griffin was forced to leave Friday's game against the Blue Jays in the second inning with an undisclosed injury, Stefan Stevenson of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports.

EDGE Analysis

The only thing apparent to reporters was that Griffin was favoring his left side before leaving. Austin Bibens-Dirkx replaced Griffin on the mound. Expect an update from the club sometime between now and Saturday afternoon's 1:07 PM start time, as the Rangers have a decimated bullpen and may need to make a move to replace Griffin on the roster.

Griffin (4-1) surrendered nine runs on nine hits and one walk over 3.1 innings in Saturday's 9-3 loss to the Tigers. He struck out three batters during the outing.

EDGE Analysis

Griffin kicked off the campaign with a 2.45 ERA and 0.85 WHIP over 29.1 innings, but he's since squandered any trust he might have gained from fantasy owners with his performance over his last two turns. He served up a whopping four homers Saturday and has given up 11 on the season, inflating his ERA to 5.02. Griffin is still likely to stick in the rotation as long as Tyson Ross (shoulder) and Cole Hamels (oblique) are still on the disabled list, but he could be most at risk of losing his starting role once one of the two injured pitchers is activated from the disabled list.

Griffin didn't factor into the decision in Sunday's 6-4 win over the Athletics after giving up four runs on seven hits and three walks over five innings before departing. He struck out three batters in the outing.

EDGE Analysis

After spinning a complete-game shutout five days earlier against the Padres, Griffin came into Sunday with elevated expectations in a matchup against his former team, but wasn't able to deliver. His three walks were a season high, and three of the seven hits he allowed game via homers. With the Rangers completing their homestand Thursday, Griffin's next turn will come next weekend in Detroit, where he'll likely have better luck reining in the long ball at the more pitcher-friendly Comerica Park.

Griffin (4-0) went the distance to complete a four-hit shutout with one walk in Tuesday's 11-0 win over the Padres. He struck out four.

EDGE Analysis

Griffin was masterful in this one, sporting strong fastball command that he offset with his arsenal of breaking pitches. He consistently induced weak contract and didn't give up a single extra-base hit while allowing just two men to reach second base. Though Griffin had an inauspicious start to the season and was recently set back by a case of gout, he has now won four straight starts, allowing just four runs in 26 innings over that span to lower his ERA to a sterling 2.45. He is pitching as well as he has since undergoing Tommy John surgery in 2014 and will look to keep it going Sunday against the Athletics.

Griffin (3-0) allowed two runs -- one earned -- on six hits and a walk while striking out seven batters through five innings during Thursday's win over Houston.

EDGE Analysis

In his first start since returning from the disabled list, Griffin quieted any concerns about his ankle injury. He's now won three consecutive outings and has struck out 15 batters through 11 innings over his latest two starts. Griffin's 4.38 FIP suggests there are likely rougher waters ahead, and Globe Life Park in Arlington isn't a favorable pitching environment, so it's probably wise to keep any long-term expectations in check. The 29-year-old righty projects to take the hill next in a road start against the Padres.
