Beltre (rest) is in the lineup Sunday against the A's.

EDGE Analysis

It had been thought that Beltre would rest for the remainder of the 2017 season, but he'll serve as the Rangers' DH and hit fourth Sunday. Beltre will head into Sunday's game with a .311 batting average and .915 OPS that was built over 93 games.

Beltre will be shut down for the rest of the 2017 season, Jeff Wilson of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports.

EDGE Analysis

With the Rangers eliminated from playoff contention, Beltre will rest for the remainder of the 2017 campaign. Beltre battled injuries over the course of the year and played in fewer than 100 games (93) for the first time since reaching the majors in 1998. Although his season was hindered by injuries, Beltre was effective when healthy as he slashed .311/.382/.533, mashed 17 home runs, and picked up 71 RBI. With Beltre done for the year, look for Drew Robinson to start at the hot corner.

Beltre may shut it down for the rest of the 2017 season with the Rangers eliminated from the wild-card chase, Jeff Wilson of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports.

EDGE Analysis

Beltre said that he would need to discuss his status with the Rangers' front office, but stated that he doesn't know if he will be out on the field again this year. The 38-year-old was finally able to handle the third base duties during Tuesday's contest, which marked the first time that he was back at his typical position since late August, when he went down with a hamstring injury. Although he's been back in the lineup for the last two weeks, the recent hamstring injury mixed with Texas's elimination could mean the end of the 2017 campaign for Beltre. Drew Robinson will get the start at third base for Wednesday's matinee against Houston.

Beltre is out of the lineup against the Astros on Wednesday.

EDGE Analysis

Beltre will get a regular day off following 12 straight starts, due in large part because of Texas's elimination from playoff contention. In his place, Drew Robinson draws the assignment at the hot corner while Shin-Soo Choo mans the DH spot.

Beltre is starting at third base and batting fifth Tuesday against the Astros, Stefan Stevenson of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports.

EDGE Analysis

Beltre has strictly served as the Rangers' designated hitter since injuring his hamstring at the end of August, but it appears he's been cleared to return to the field after getting nearly a dozen games under his belt in September. Will Middlebooks and Drew Robinson have failed to produce while filling in for Beltre at third base, so assuming he gets through Tuesday's contest with no issues, he'll likely see the majority of starts at the hot corner in the final week.

Beltre went 2-for-4 with an RBI in Monday's 11-2 loss to the Astros.

EDGE Analysis

Beltre remains relegated to DH duties while he waits for his strained left hamstring to heal up, but the injury hasn't hindered his effectiveness at the dish. Since returning to action Sept. 13 following an absence of just under two weeks, Beltre is hitting .293 with a home run, five RBI and three runs in 12 games.

Beltre went 2-for-4 with a solo home run during Thursday's win over Seattle.

EDGE Analysis

The veteran has heated up over his past four games going 7-for-16 with a homer, three RBI and three runs. Beltre has missed a lot of time this season, but amazingly, his .929 OPS would stand as his highest mark since his monster 2004 campaign.

Beltre went 2-for-4 with a double and two RBI in Sunday's 4-2 win over the Angels.

EDGE Analysis

Beltre was making his fourth consecutive start at designated hitter, and with his strained left hamstring apparently not troubling him too much while running the bases, it looks like he'll continue to see regular at-bats. Since his surprise return from the 10-day disabled list last week, Beltre has gone 3-for-15 with three RBI.Beltre

Beltre indicated Thursday that he expects to see regular at-bats at designated hitter for the foreseeable future until his left hamstring no longer presents issues for him defensively, Sam Butler of MLB.com reports.

EDGE Analysis

It looked like a real possibility that Beltre would be sidelined for the rest of the season after he suffered a Grade 2 hamstring strain in an Aug. 31 game, but he surprisingly came off the 10-day disabled list less than two weeks later. He returned to action Wednesday in a pinch-hitting capacity before starting at DH in Thursday's loss to the Mariners, going 1-for-3 with a base hit. Though it's not expected that Beltre's hamstring will be fully healed for another 2-to-4 weeks, so long as running the bases doesn't prove too much of an issue, it looks as though he could settle in as the club's primary designated hitter. If that's the case it would likely result in one of Willie Calhoun, Nomar Mazara and Shin-Soo Choo bowing out of the lineup in favor of Beltre in each game Beltre starts.

Beltre (hamstring) is back in the lineup for Thursday's contest against the Mariners.

EDGE Analysis

Beltre was able to come into Wednesday's game as a pinch hitter after 12 straight games out of the lineup while recovering from a hamstring injury. It's quite remarkable that the 38-year-old has been able to return this soon, since it was expected that he would be sidelined for the rest of 2017 once he suffered the injury in late August. Moving forward, Beltre might see even more time at DH, which is where he's slated for Thursday's affair, as opposed to his normal spot at third base.
