Topic - Fleaflicker Weekly Updates

By FFCSR_Doug Fleaflicker AdminFleaflicker Administrator 11/3/2008
Hey Guys,
Sorry for no updates the past couple of weeks. We have not been on vacation in Aruba, but are working on a couple of big things (unfortunately can't go into too many specifics - know the creptic message will bring lots of guesses).
So many of the upgrades, future lineup, co-commish, logos, have been put on hold for the moment.
They are still priorities to us though and we understand how important they are to you guys.
As soon as we can go into more specifics, we will provide you as much detail as possible about what we have in store.
  • It is against Fleaflicker's terms of service to post offensive material.

It seemed like an update to the system might have been made today, June 2, 2009. Were there any changes? If so, what are they?
By DARKSEID 8 Months [Reply][Link][Parent]
Yes, they are adding baseball.
By smcndfan 8 Months [Reply][Link][Parent]

The site may be down intermittently over the next two days. Nothing is wrong, we are just making some upgrades. If you have any questions or issues send us an email.
Anything you can leak to makes us keep checking back lol? :)

Doug, how about another hint? I keep coming up with you guys are working on fantasy baseball. Am I right? How about a yes, no, or maybe?
By scotto1959 8 Months [Reply][Link][Parent]

In 2004 Fanball took over the fantasy sport section at AOL and revived it into one of the most-popular web destinations for fantasy sports. AOL offers Fanball's full suite of functionality from thsier falfship Commissioner product. Since AOL and Fanball are partners, maybe FF is getting an upgrade from Fanball...
By DARKSEID 9 Months [Reply][Link][Parent]
Maybe, but how does a picture if Jack Kerouac fit into that?
By DARKSEID 9 Months [Reply][Link][Parent]
Doug sure didn't throw us much of a bone.

*if=of
He is from Canada and Fanball is a Canadian owned company...
By DARKSEID 9 Months [Reply][Link][Parent]
CDM Fantasy Sports Corp. dba Fanball (Fanball, fanball.com) is a Liberty Media (libertymedia.com) company and was established on December 24, 1991, with the goal of becoming the largest operator of fantasy sports games in North America. Fanball consists of the assets of three companies that were acquired by FUN Technologies in 2005 and 2006. Liberty Media acquired 100% of FUN Technologies in December 2007. The first acquisition was Fanball.com, based in Minneapolis, MN, in 2005, the second acquisition was Fantasy Sports, Inc. (Fantasy Cup), based in York, PA, also in 2005, and finally the acquisition of CDM Fantasy Sports (CDM), based in St. Louis, MO, in 2006.

Today Fanball is headquartered in St. Louis, MO, and offers over 80 fantasy sports products including league commissioner, salary cap and online draft contests, fantasy magazines, online draft kits, free and subscription-based fantasy content, and news and articles feeds which are provided to many sports media outlets.

I can't find any mention of it being a Canadian owned company
Fanball used to be a Fun technologies game...

But I hadn't wathed the company and didn't know they had been bought out and is now CDM Fantasy Sports... I remember them changing the name of their game from Exit42 to the Real Leagues, now I see why...

By overachiever77 9 Months [Reply][Link]
It would be great to get some updates. I know the site admins. are working, but updates shouldn't take but a minute to post. Please give us something. It would be nice to know what's being worked on.

Come on Flea staff, maybe something, maybe a hint, or even just stop in to say hi. The suspense is killing me. Any word at all would be great.

Hoping to have an announcement next week. Here is your obscure hint, fishup.ru
By DARKSEID 9 Months [Reply][Link][Parent]
I think I have maybe figured out your hint. The picture is Jack Kerouac, and the only thing I can figure by your " obscure hint" is you are adding fantasy baseball. If anybody else has a guess please chime in. Here is what leads me to beleive this,

Jack Kerouac's fantasy baseball league
Unbeknownst to his close friends, Jack Kerouac invented a fantasy baseball game and played it for most of his life.

[Kerouac's game charted] the exploits of made-up players like Wino Love, Warby Pepper, Heinie Twiett, Phegus Cody and Zagg Parker, who toiled on imaginary teams named either for cars (the Pittsburgh Plymouths and New York Chevvies, for example) or for colors (the Boston Grays and Cincinnati Blacks).

He collected their stats, analyzed their performances and, as a teenager, when he played most ardently, wrote about them in homemade newsletters and broadsides. He even covered financial news and imaginary contract disputes. During those same teenage years, he also ran a fantasy horse-racing circuit, complete with illustrated tout sheets and racing reports. He created imaginary owners, imaginary jockeys, imaginary track conditions.

I think it means Lego's. Whoopee!!
By scotto1959 9 Months [Reply][Link][Parent]
Maybe something totally new that Ori has been carring around in his little brain for years?

Expanded message boards.
By scotto1959 8 Months [Reply][Link][Parent]
I'm looking at live scoring , to surpass NFL.com. Roster expansions to out do ESPN. League message boards with live chat. Lego's of course.
Why would we care about them adding baseball at this time of year? It has to be something else...
By DARKSEID 9 Months [Reply][Link][Parent]
We wouldn't care, but Doug's hint seem's to point in that direction. He was right about it being an obscure hint.
By VoltronForce 9 Months [Reply][Link][Parent]
Kerouac's parents were Canadians. That means they are making a CFL fantasy site...

...or since his initials are JK it means they were "just kidding" about making any changes.
By VoltronForce 9 Months [Reply][Link][Parent]
...or they could be adding a picture feature to the message board.
Or the Canadian connection could mean they bought out or bought out the Fanball site?
By scotto1959 9 Months [Reply][Link][Parent]
Our weeks or yours?
By scotto1959 9 Months [Reply][Link][Parent]
This guy sounds just like me.... Are you making me a mod?
By scotto1959 9 Months [Reply][Link][Parent]
I'll drink to that.
By VoltronForce 9 Months [Reply][Link][Parent]
If they make you a mod they sure better make me one too.
By scotto1959 9 Months [Reply][Link][Parent]
Reading through this and the history of flea, and what it meant to Ori. I think he's going to wow us. The transfer to AOL and his comment that he took it as far as he could. He has had a year and a half to bring his baby to the net.
By scotto1959 9 Months [Reply][Link][Parent]
Or he just got drunk?
By scotto1959 9 Months [Reply][Link]
I feel an update this week!!!
By DARKSEID 9 Months [Reply][Link][Parent]
Some news would be nice. Why all the secrets? At least give us a little taste of what is coming. Im waiting to join to many leagues just in case the new features change the way leagues are run.
By scotto1959 9 Months [Reply][Link][Parent]
It would be nice!! my lego stadium is now complete, my shit-zoo ate my Favre lego and is have trouble passing it... hmmmmm..
By JZLAM 9 Months [Reply][Link][Parent]
I don't think anyone works for AOL Fleaflicker anymore. Future improvements aint' gonna happen. This site has lost its will to compete and keep up with other sites which keep getting better. I hope I'm wrong, but if we don't get very meaningful site improvement announcements in the next couple of weeks you can write FleaFlicker off as dead and as an ignored asset within the sad AOL empire.
By DARKSEID 9 Months [Reply][Link][Parent]
As far as free sites go this one is still the best. Some news about the updates would be nice to see soon. Something..... Anything..... come on guys how about a little preview. It's been a long time coming.
By scotto1959 9 Months [Reply][Link][Parent]
I think thier carrier Eagle got shot by a Patriot and eaten by a Bear.
By scotto1959 9 Months [Reply][Link][Parent]
Or Doug lied and they are in Aruba???
By DARKSEID 9 Months [Reply][Link][Parent]
How about a little preview today.
I feel like some news is coming soon... maybe before this weekend is over... :)
By scotto1959 9 Months [Reply][Link][Parent]
I see they let Ori out of his cage.
