Phaneuf recorded seven PIM and four shots on goal in Wednesday's loss to the Senators.

The blueliner has compiled seven PIM in back-to-back games to improve his total to an impressive 85 for the season, but it's his lack of offense lately that's been the bigger story. He's failed to register a point in his last eight games -- his longest scoring drought since he concluded last season with a nine-game slump.

Phaneuf registered an assist in his fourth straight game in Saturday's loss to the Jets.

It's the longest point streak of the season for Phaneuf, who has probably been usurped by Cody Franson as the Leafs' top fantasy blueliner this season. Even though he might be proceeding to the downside of his career, the 29-year-old Phaneuf is certainly productive enough to warrant a roster spot across most formats. He's tallied 22 points in 40 games this season.

Phaneuf picked up a helper in Monday's loss to the Lightning. He has four points (one goal, three assists) in his last 10 games.

For all the flack this guy takes in Toronto, he's still on pace for just his second 40-plus point season since 2008-09. He has already cleared 100 hits (101) in just 37 games. And his plus-8 rating is already among the best of his career. But his giveaway in the third resulted in the Bolts' game winner -- thankfully, those gaffes don't typically hurt fantasy owners.

Phaneuf scored the Leafs' only goal in a 4-1 loss to Carolina on Thursday night. It was just his second goal of the season.

He fired a rocket from the left point; it went in just under the crossbar. He hadn't found twine in 19 games leading into Thursday, but he still has 17 points in 32 games. He's a worthy activation -- after all, he's on pace for more than 40 points. But the days of double-digit goals are long gone.

He now has 15 points, but all but one are helpers. Still, he's targeting a mid-40s finish by way of points and there's definitely fantasy value in that ... no matter how much fans in Toronto hate the guy.

Phaneuf delivered two assists Tuesday in a win over the Stars. He five points -- all assists -- in his last six games.

Is he warming up? Maybe, maybe not. His game is no longer about scoring goals off booming shots -- he only has one snipe so far this season. But take a look at his plus-10 rating -- that category hasn't been that high since 2007-08. He delivers middling fantasy value in most formats, so use accordingly.
