Parenteau (upper body) is making progress, but he will not play in Saturday's game against the Penguins.

Parenteau skated prior to Thursday's practice, so his next step is likely to rejoin practice with the team. He may stand a chance to return to games next week, but he won't be available over the weekend.

Parenteau (upper body) skated prior to Thursday's practice, the Montreal Gazette reports.

Parenteau's situation is a bit muddled. The roster at the team's home page has flagged him as on injured reserve, but there's been no reporting of it. Supporting the notion that Parenteau is indeed on IR, the Canadiens recalled forward Christian Thomas from AHL Hamilton on Thursday. But now we learn that he skated prior to Thursday's practice.

Parenteau (upper body) was moved to injured reserve Thursday.

Parenteau last played Jan. 2, so he'll be eligible to return Saturday against the Penguins if he's back to full health. It doesn't sound as though that will be the case, however, as he has yet to resume skating since sustaining the injury. The Habs will likely add another forward to cover for his absence.

Parenteau's previously reported unspecified injury is to his upper body, the Montreal Gazette reports.

"Upper body" doesn't get much more specific than "undisclosed," but it does remove some of the mystery. Parenteau will not be available to play Tuesday night against Tampa Bay.

Parenteau (undisclosed) has been ruled out for Tuesday's game against the Lightning.

Parenteau continues to receive evaluations on a daily basis, but apparently isn't ready to return Tuesday. His injury occurred Friday against the Devils possibly as a result of a big hit laid on him by Tim Sestito in the second period of the game. His next chance to return will come Saturday against the Penguins, giving him extra time to heal up.

Parenteau (undisclosed) will not play Saturday against the Penguins, Marc Antoine Godin of the Montreal Press reports.

Manny Malhotra will enter the lineup while Parenteau sits due to the injury he suffered in the second period of Friday's win over the Devils. The Canadiens haven't specified his condition or provided an estimate on how much time he'll miss, so he should be viewed day-to-day for the time being. The winger has six goals and 15 points in 38 games with the Habs.

Parenteau will not return to Friday's game against the Devils with an undisclosed injury.

Parenteau's injury may have originated from a hit by Tim Sestito in the second period. Although the exact injury is unclear, it will cost Parenteau the remainder of Friday's contest. His next chance to return would be Saturday against the Penguins, but he should receive an updated status prior to the game.

Parenteau scored the shootout-winner in Tuesday night's 2-1 victory over the Panthers.

The shootout goal was his fourth in six attempts this season, and all have been game-deciding scores. He leads the NHL with four game-winning goals in the shootout period.

Parenteau was dropped to the third line for Friday night's game against Chicago. He skated 10:34 with four shots on net in a 4-3 loss.

Parenteau's spent time up and down the lines through the first third of the season, as head coach Michel Therrien continues to shuffle forwards on team that's among the lower third in terms of scoring per game. He remains on one of Montreal's power-play units, however, that's another area in which the team ranks in the lower third of the NHL.

Parenteau scored a power-play goal in Friday night's 2-1 loss to the Sabres. It was his third man-advantage goal this season.

The Canadiens had practiced a new power-play strategy during the week, going with four forwards instead of three. Head coach Michel Therrien was reluctant to use that alignment during Montreal's first two power plays but did so on their final chance, which produced Parenteau's goal. We suspect the coach will deploy the four-forward attack when the two teams meet Saturday night at the Bell Centre.
