This guy has been an underrated offensive player his entire career, but the move to an Original Six team that's in Canada could catapult him into prominence ... especially as a Quebec-born player. He can add value to your roster.

Parenteau, who started Thursday night on the top line, was eventually moved to the third line with Lars Eller and Rene Bourque in Montreal's 2-1 shootout win over Washington.

This was not a reflection of Parenteau's work, but rather it was head coach Michel Therrien tweaking the lines after his team was out-shot, 15-2, in the first period. Parenteau had what appeared to be a goal in the third period, but it was waved off due to Rene Bourque interfering with the goalie.

Parenteau scored two goals in an intra-squad scrimmage Saturday, Hockey Inside Out reports. He skated on a line with David Desharnais and Max Pacioretty.

Parenteau, who was acquired in the offseason from Colorado, will be part of a few line combinations during the preseason to see where he fits best, so we're not jumping to any conclusions because he skated on the Habs' top line. Head coach Michel Therrien said he was pleased with Parenteau's conditioning, something he and general manager Marc Bergevin talked to Parenteau about when he was acquired.

He also added three points in seven playoff contests. He was rumored to be on the trade block during the season, but the Avalanche kept him after losing Alex Tanguay to injury.

P. A. Parenteau found the back of the net in Colorado's 4-3 overtime win on Saturday.

Parenteau's goal came at 18:46 of the third period to force overtime. It was the 31-year-old forward's first career playoff point. He's endured a rough season as he had to deal with injuries and on-ice struggles that led to him spending some time as a healthy scratch. Getting to score a key goal in Game 5 though has to be a nice payoff for persevering.

He has not registered a point in four games and has taken only eight shots on goal despite getting an average of 17:16 of ice time and plenty of power-play opportunities. There is some talk that Parenteau could be demoted with Joey Hishon taking his place on the team's second line.
