Magnus Paajarvi LW STL 4 Days

Paajarvi will draw into the lineup Sunday in place of injured Paul Stastny, according to Jeremy Rutherford of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

The former first round pick has fallen out of favour in St. Louis with the arrival of some new faces this year. He will have a chance to make a good impression in his debut, but will likely be limited to fourth line duty.

Paajarvi would likely slot onto the fourth line if he makes the club, according to Tom Timmermann of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. Coach Ken Hitchcock said his performance at training camp "started well and then leveled off." The Blues are expected to trim their roster on Sunday.

The speculation about whether Paajarvi would even make the Blues is a bit surprising, but the former tenth overall pick in the 2009 draft has not developed into an impact player. His speed is an asset that could keep him on the roster, but the Blues have brought in a number of promising new forwards who have clearly leapt over Paajarvi in the pecking order.

Magnus Paajarvi was back in the lineup on Tuesday.

He skated with Patrik Berglund and Steve Ott during a 1-0 shootout win over Philadelphia. "We've had that line play twice together and it's been very effective," coach Ken Hitchcock said. "Paajarvi is back feeling good about himself now, so we put him in and keep him going. We want to keep that line together for as much as we can here, finish the season and see how we look." In 49 games this season, Paajarvi has notched six goals and six assists. This could finally a chance for him to stick around in the Blues' lineup.

He will not play against Dallas as Chris Porter will dress in his place. No real fantasy ramifications here.

Magnus Paajarvi had the game-winning goal in Thursday's 2-1 victory against Nashville.

He got his sixth goal of the 2013-14 campaign just before the midway mark of the contest. "I think I surprised myself with my speed there a little bit," Paajarvi said of his winner. "From the blueline in, it was kind of a half-breakaway. Yeah, it was a nice goal, nice to get it." He skated on the fourth line with Maxim Lapierre and Ryan Reaves.

Magnus Paajarvi is slated to play Tuesday after he was a healthy scratch Saturday.

"He didn't deserve to come out the last game," coach Ken Hitchcock said. "But somebody had to and it was my decision to make the change. But he's going right back in tomorrow. He deserves to play and he's played really well." The Blues got Alexander Steen back that night, so someone had to come out. Paajarvi has four goals and six points in 31 games this year.
