Alex Ovechkin was locked up by the Bruins in Thursday's 3-0 loss, managing just one shot on goal.
Amazingly, this was the first game this season in which Ovechkin didn't register multiple shots on net. The Russian sniper averages better than seven shots per game, which makes Boston's shutting him down that much more impressive.

Alex Ovechkin is looking to move past his disappointing showing in the 2014 Winter Olympics.
"I want to say sorry to the fans because it's once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to represent your country in the Olympics and you didn't get the results you didn't get any medal," Ovechkin said. "Of course the fans, the media and the people who support Russia, family, was upset but life goes on. Right now we here and we're going to do our best to take a playoff spot and try to win the Cup." It's the right thing to say, but he's still worth keeping a close eye on. Ovechkin suffered a dropoff in production after Russia's disappointing 2010 Olympic run and we wouldn't be shocked if it happens again.

Alex Ovechkin's father, Mikhail, underwent surgery for a heart condition in Sochi earlier this week.
He is in stable condition, according to Washington GM George McPhee. "We've told him to stay as long as necessary with your dad," said McPhee, who isn't sure when Ovechkin will return to North America. Russia's Olympic shortcomings and his father's health could be distractions once he resumes playing for the Capitals. However, Washington's GM expects his star player to "give us everything he's got as he always has" when he's ready to return.

The Washington Capitals hope that Alex Ovechkin won't let his disappointing Olympic showing hurt him.
Ovechkin saw a drop off in production following Russia's early elimination in the 2010 Winter Olympics. If anything, this time around the loss was more demoralizing given that the Olympics are in Sochi. The Capitals are a point shy of the second Wild Card spot going into the stretch run and they need Ovechkin to be at the top of his game for them to be successful.
