T. J. Oshie RW STL 1 Month

Oshie (concussion) has been activated from injured reserve and will play Thursday against the Predators.

Oshie looked like a game-time decision for Thursday after taking part in the team's optional morning skate, but it sounds like he's already received the OK from the team's medical staff to return to the lineup. It's uncertain where Oshie will slot in for the Blues since the team didn't have all hands on deck for the morning skate, but it seems possible that the team would ease him back into action by using him in reduced minutes as part of the second or third line. For that reason, along with his early offensive struggles (one point in eight games) prior to suffering the head injury, it may be wise for Oshie's fantasy owners to wait a game or two before inserting him back into their lineups.

Oshie (concussion) took some contact at Thursday's morning skate and could be an option for the Blues' game against the Predators, Jeremy Rutherford of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.

Oshie has been free of concussion symptoms for the last couple of days and was able to resuming practicing Wednesday, making it possibly that he might suit up if he continues to feel 100 percent once game time rolls around. However, because Thursday was his first day taking contact in a session that wasn't especially rigorous, coach Ken Hitchcock and the Blues' medical staff could exercise precaution and hold Oshie out for the eighth straight game. In any case, assuming he incurs no further setbacks with his recovery from the concussion, Oshie looks highly probable to be available for Saturday's tilt against the Capitals at the latest. The Blues have already signaled that Oshie is close to a return with their decision to send Dmitrij Jaskin back to the minors Thursday.

Coach Ken Hitchcock said Oshie (concussion) will not be an option for Tuesday's game against the Sabres, NHL.com's Lou Korac reports.

The news doesn't come as much of a surprise since Oshie first resumed practicing in a non-contact capacity Monday. It's not certain if he'll be cleared to take part in a full-contact session Wednesday, but if that ends up materializing, Oshie could have a legitimate shot at making his return to game action Thursday against Nashville.

Oshie (concussion) practiced in a non-contact jersey Monday, Lou Korac of NHL.com reports.

Oshie was skating hard in drills prior to practice, so it sounds like he at least has all of his balance and vision back after suffering a concussion. He'll still need to be cleared for contact before returning, but it sounds like that could be sooner rather than later at this point.

Oshie (concussion) skated on his own Saturday morning, NHL.com's Lou Korac reports.

He was able to get in some puck handling and shooting in addition to skating, but coach Ken Hitchcock cautioned not to read to much into it, saying the forward is still a ways off rejoining the lineup. Oshie has been out since Oct. 28 with the concussion, missing the Blues' last five games.

Oshie (concussion) appeared at the Scottrade Center Thursday before the Blues took on the Devils, but he is not expected back soon, Jeremy Rutherford of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. Oshie suffered a concussion against Dallas on October 28.

Coach Ken Hitchcock noted that it is positive Oshie is up, walking around and paying the team a visit, but the Blues are playing it cautiously with their young forward, as they should. It's unlikely he will play before mid-next week.

The Blues placed Oshie (concussion) on IR on Monday.

Oshie has been dealing with an illness as well as his concussion, and will likely need to start feeling better before he can be reassessed for concussion symptoms. He's eligible to be activated off IR on Tuesday, but he's not expected to be anywhere close to returning at that point.

In addition to a concussion, Jeremy Rutherford of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that Oshie (concussion) is dealing with a bacterial infection, according to GM Doug Armstrong.

The infection is making it more challenging to determine the status of his concussion (the more serious issue). Once the illness clears Oshie will go through the normal concussion protocols before returning to the lineup.

Oshie picked up his first point of the season, an assist, in win over Chicago Saturday. He was plus-2 with two hits and a blocked shot in 19:48 of ice time.

Hopefully this will get Oshie rolling as the Blues put him with David Backes and Jaden Schwartz Saturday night and it was Schwartz's goal that got Oshie his assist. He put up 60 points last year and should be able to get near that level despite the slow start.

Oshie has yet to record a point through the Blues first four games. He has a minus-1 rating and 12 shots on net.

Oshie couldn't even get on the board in the Blues 6-1 drubbing of Arizona on Saturday. He put up a 60 point season last year, so the drought will no doubt end soon. His status bears watching, however, because while he is skating on the top line with David Backes and Alexander Steen, he is receiving more than 1:30 less ice time per game and more than a minute less ice time on the power play in the early going this year.
