The Chicago Blackhawks anticipate an intense, relentless effort from the Los Angeles Kings in Game 5 tonight of the Western Confernce final series.
The Hawks lead the best-of-seven series 3-1 but as Chicago defenseman Johnny Oduya said: "The other team faces elimination and that's when they'll fight the hardest. We had that (in the Hawks' previous series against the Detroit Red Wings), and that's when we woke up. By no means do you look at it any other way than that, knowing you have to play the best you can."

Why? "I don't know," Oduya said. "We're Swedish?" Oduya and Hjalmarsson are solid defenders but combined, they've become a borderline elite unit for the 14-0-3 Hawks. Through 17 games, Oduya has a plus-9 rating, while Hjalmarsson is plus-7.

Johnny Oduya enjoyed his time playing for the Flying Farangs in Bangkok, Thailand during the lockout.
"I just wanted to do something different," said Oduya. "I was going to go there for a week or so for vacation and I looked up to see if there were any possibilities to skate or work out and I found a good rink in downtown Bangkok." By Oduya's own admission, hockey is very big in Thailand, but he "was able to get my own ice time to do whatever I wanted." Oduya has two assists in three games this season.

Johnny Oduya has decided to play in Thailand during the lockout.
Yes, you read that right: Thailand. While other NHLers are in Europe or the AHL, Oduya was in Thailand on vacation and decided to latch on with a men's-league team based in Bangcock. "I didn't know if it would be a good idea but once we started looking into it a bit more we got more excited," Oduya said. "I didn't know that it would end up anything like this, this is a much bigger venue than anything I thought I would be part of. In the beginning, the first day, I showed up to practice and it was more like, 'Oh you are here, we didn't really think you were going to show up.' They thought it was all talk. I hope they think it's been fun and as long as everybody has a good time I'm happy with that."
