Oduya was injured late in Tuesday's win over the Lightning, but his return to practice suggests his ailment isn't particularly serious. If he's able to take part in pairing work during Friday's morning skate, there's a good chance he'll be available later that night against the Red Wings.

Oduya suffered a lower-body injury while blocking a shot midway through the third period of Tuesday's shootout win over the Lightning, Tracey Myers of CSNChicago.com reports.

Oduya didn't return to action after blocking the shot off his right leg, finishing the night with a season-low 13:49 of ice time. Coach Joel Quenneville said the team would find out more information regarding the nature and severity of his injury after Oduya is evaluated Wednesday.

Oduya scored his first goal of the season on Saturday night that gave the Blackhawks a 1-0 lead against Nashville in the Hawks' 2-1 overtime win.

With the goal in Chicago's fourth game of the season, Oduya has a third of his projected output. He had three goals each in the previous two seasons. Goals and assists are just a bonus for Oduya. He had 114 blocks last season so that is where the Blackhawks want him to equal or go beyond that this season.

Oduya only missed one practice so the injury should not have an effect on his fantasy production this season. He scored three goals and 13 assists last season.

Oduya (lower body) didn't take part in Friday's morning skate.

The Blackhawks believe Oduya may be able to practice by Sunday, so it doesn't sound like he's at much risk of missing the team's Oct. 9 season opener against the Stars. The blueliner tallied three goals, 13 assists and finished with a plus-11 rating in 77 games with the Blackhawks in 2013-14.

Oduya (broken foot) has been cleared for full activity during training camp, Mark Lazerus of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

Oduya suffered the broken foot in the Blackhawks' Game 7 loss to the Kings in the Western Conference Finals, after it was struck by a shot from the opposition. A summer of rest allowed the foot to heal without too many complications, and he should be on track to reprise his role on the second pairing with Niklas Hjalmarsson when the new season begins.

The NHL's and NHLPA's determination of a $69 milliion salary cap for the 2014-15 season may force the Blackhawks to trade a number of players with Johnny Oduya at the top of the list.

The Hawks have already moved Brandon Bollig to the Flames for a draft pick to save $1.25 million and may have to move Oduya who makes a whopping $3.375 million in order to re-sign a number of players and address the extensions of Jonathan Toews and Patrick Kane while staying under the cap. Stay tuned.
