Jake Allen knows he's heading into training camp in a difficult position.

Allen stepped up with a 2.46 GAA and .905 save percentage in 15 games last season as a rookie, but he's far from a lock to make the 2013-14 squad. "It's a situation where we still have (Elliott) and (Halak) up there on one-way deals, so it's a bit of a different situation for me," Allen said. "Obviously you want to be there, but you have to keep things in perspective and bide your time. I had a good season last year, but that's just a step. I think I still have to prove myself in camp." Allen's newly signed two-year deal is a two-way contract next season and will turn into a one-way deal in 2014-15. Brian Elliott and Jaroslav Halak's contracts are both set to expire in the summer of 2014, so it would make sense if Allen spent the 2013-14 campaign in the minors and then the Blues re-signed one of Elliott and Halak to play alongside Allen in 2014-15. That being said, there's still a chance that all three netminders could make the Blues' team out of training camp.

St. Louis Blues sign goalie Jake Allen to two-year contract.

Beat writer Jeremy Rutherford reports the deal is a two-way contract in year one and a one-way deal in year two. Allen led all rookie goalies with nine wins in 2013 and his 2.46 GAA and .905 save percentage earned Allen a spot on the NHL's all-rookie team. Allen is currently behind Jaroslav Halak and Brian Elliott on St. Louis' depth chart. There's a chance Allen could open next season with the Blues, but that seems unlikely barring injury or a trade.

Jake Allen made 15 saves on 19 shots in the Blues' 4-1 loss to the Blue Jackets Friday night.

With Jaroslav Halak expected to miss the remainder of the season, Allen and Brian Elliott should be owned in 12-team leagues. With the loss tonight, the 22-year-old rookie is 9-5 in this 48-game shortened season.

Jake Allen is expected to start Friday versus Columbus.

Brian Elliott has posted back-to-back shutouts, so he gets the call for the Blues in Thursday's match against Minnesota. Allen posted 26 saves in a 3-1 over the Blue Jackets on April 5 in his lasting outing.

St. Louis Blues recall Jake Allen from AHL Peoria.

Allen was sent down Saturday but was recalled after Jaroslav Halak left Monday's game in the first period. While we still don't know the severity of Halak's injury, it seems obvious he'll miss at least Thursday's game against Chicago. Allen had a 2.45 GAA and a .906 save percentage in 12 NHL games this season. It's unclear if Allen or Brian Elliott will get the start Thursday.

The St. Louis Blues have sent Jake Allen to the minors.

That leaves the Blues with only one goaltender on their active roster, but they don't play until Monday anyways. Backup netminder Brian Elliott is expected to wrap up his conditioning stint, return to the Blues and stick with the team for the remainder of the season. Allen has a 2.45 GAA and .906 save percentage in 12 NHL games this season.

Jake Allen was the first goalie off the ice at Tuesday's morning skate.

That's usually a sign of which goalie will start tonight. Allen's been a beast since being recalled in February but is looking to rebound from a 3-2 loss to Vancouver last week. On the season, Allen is 8-2-0 with a .915 save percentage and a 2.26 GAA.

Jake Allen lost his second start of the year, after stopping just 16 shots in St. Louis' 3-2 loss to Vancouver on Tuesday evening.

Allen has been a stud in net for St. Louis since making his first appearance in February and improves to 8-2-0 on the year. He was coming off of a string of impressive performances against top Western Conference opponents, so he was due for a letdown. Jaroslav Halak will get the start on Saturday in Edmonton.
