Allen gave up five goals on 31 shots and was pulled at the second intermission Tuesday in a loss to the Avs.

Martin Brodeur came on and stopped all 10 shots in relief, but the Blues couldn't get a single puck past Colorado goalie Semyon Varlamov. Allen continues to struggle with inconsistent play, having given up eight goals over his last two games following a three-game winning streak.

Allen will start in net against the Avalanche, Jeremy Rutherford of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.

Allen has received most of the starts in net recently following the injury to Brian Elliott. He is coming off a decent start in net, saving 27 of the 30 shots he faced. He will look for a strong finish Tuesday with a three-day Christmas break on the horizon.

Allen impressed Saturday, stopping all but three of the 30 shots he faced in an overtime loss to the Sharks.

Another solid game for Allen, who has allowed three or fewer goals in each of his last five outings. The 24-year-old is now 11-3-2 on the season with a .907 save percentage and 2.49 GAA. He needs to be in your lineup every night he gets the call in the Blues' crease.

Allen will be between the pipes Saturday against the Sharks, Jeremy Rutherford of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.

Things have started to turn ugly for Allen here in December, despite the fact that he's won each of his last three starts. He's posted a horrid .884 save percentage in five outings this month, which has resulted in him yielding more work to Martin Brodeur than anticipated. Still, with a powerful offense and strong defense supporting him, the wins should keep coming rather steadily for the struggling netminder.

Allen made 21 saves on 23 tries in Tuesday's win over the Kings -- his third straight victory.

Allen has been distinctly unspectacular this season, significantly underperforming relative to the expectations he set with his spectacular efforts for AHL Chicago last season, but perhaps this little stretch of winning hockey will give him some more confidence to stop pucks at a more impressive rate going forward. Allen's on a one-way contract this year, so it's unclear what the Blues will do with him and Martin Brodeur once Brian Elliott (knee) is ready to return, which should be soon.

Allen will be the starter Tuesday against the Kings, according to NHL.com's Lou Korac.

Allen has started two in a row for the Blues, coming away with wins both times, while stopping 48 of 53 shots he faced.

Allen stopped 23 of the 25 shots he faced in Saturday's overtime win over the Avalanche.

A solid outing for Allen, who has now picked up a win in his last two starts. The 24-year-old is 10-3-1 on the season with a .907 save percentage and 2.50 GAA. While his rate starts aren't great, Allen has proven he can win games for the Blues this season, making him a key fantasy asset. With Brian Elliot (knee sidelined), look for Allen to continue to split time with Martin Brodeur.

Allen allowed three goals on 25 shots Thursday against the Islanders, but still received the win with a big offensive effort out of his team. He and Martin Brodeur could continue to split the starts until Brian Elliott (knee) returns, leaving the Blues with a decision to make.

Allen gave up three goals on 25 shots, but got plenty of help from his teammates Thursday in a 6-3 win over the Isles.

It's another unspectacular start for Allen, but another win nonetheless -- his ninth in 13 starts this year despite so-so rate stats. Allen's finished with a save mark under .900 in eight of his last 10 starts, and yet has gone 6-2-1 in that span.

Allen will be back in the crease Thursday versus the Islanders, Jeremy Rutherford of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.

Allen had one of the more difficult starts of his brief NHL career Saturday against the Islanders, yielding three goals on nine shots before he was pulled in favor of Martin Brodeur. However, coach Ken Hitchcock reiterated at Tuesday's practice that Allen is still the team's No. 1 goalie, so he'll reward the youngster with the chance to redeem himself in the rematch.
