Eric Nystrom LW NAS 1 Month

Nystrom collected his first points since Oct. 11 on Tuesday, posting a goal, an assist and a plus-2 rating in a 9-2 crushing of the Leafs.

After starting the year with two goals, two assists and a plus-5 rating in the first two games, Nystrom proceeded to go 15 consecutive contests without registering a point or finishing on the plus side of the ledger. He occasionally busts out with productive games like this, but cannot be counted on for fantasy purposes.

Nystrom scored his second goal of the season and added two assists, to go with a plus-3 rating in Saturday's win over the Stars.

Nystrom has now scored in back-to-back games, playing on the team's fourth line and seeing no power-play time. Although he did manage 21 points in 2013-14, Nystrom is seen as a depth player, making him not worth your time in fantasy. He may be worth a look in some very deep leagues, but don't count on more than 20-30 points.

Nystrom skated primarily on the Preds' fourth line during Monday's 3-0 preseason loss to Columbus. He saw 15:13 worth of ice time and had just a single shot on goal.

Nystrom was a pleasant surprise last season, his first as a Predator after spending the previous two campaigns in Dallas. He scored 15 goals as a checking line winger, just one shy of his career high, and added six assists. If these preseason games are any indication, he will probably fill a similar role for the Preds this year.

Eric Nystrom potted the only goal for the Predators in their 4-1 loss Saturday night against the Blues.

Nystrom's goal was his 13th of the season, good for a three-way tie for fourth on the team. With a strong finish, Nystrom could top his career-high of 16 goals he attained in the 2011-12 season. Colton Sissons and Paul Gaustad got the assists.

Eric Nystrom's four goal game Friday night came against the team that drafted him--the Flames.

Who says players don't want to do well against teams that discarded them? It was Nystrom's first career NHL hat trick and four-goal game. His previous high was a two-goal contest when he was playing for Calgary. Nystrom seemed to be much more focussd on the fact that the Predators lost the game than on his individual performance. "A lot of good memories here," Nystrom said. "This is where my career started, I have the utmost respect for this organization and coming in here and playing in front of these fans, they're really great fans, it's just frustrating that we let that one slip away." Nystrom has been a nice surprise for the Preds but he really isn't fantasy relevant.

Eric Nystrom (upper body) will miss his second straight game on Tuesday.

Although it is being called an upper-body injury, what happened is he was hit behind the ear. "When you get knocked there, it affects your balance a little bit," coach Barry Trotz said. "He's fine. He's a tough kid, it won't affect him."
