Myers scored his first power play goal of the season in a tough 2-1 loss to Ottawa on Tuesday.Yes, that power play goal, thanks to a Zemgus Girgensons screen, was Myers' first of the season. The 6-foot-8 defenseman has a booming shot, but has scored just four goals this season in a trying year for him and the team. A game after the Sabres recorded a franchise-low 10 shots on goal, the team set a season-high against the Sens with 36. Myers alone had four. He has two goals in three games and he's trending up as the trade deadline nears. He's a major trade target for Cup contenders.

Myers was not on the ice or Friday's practice, reports Mike Harrington of The Buffalo News.

Myers suffered an ankle injury against Edmonton on Jan. 29 but played the next three games without a hitch, including 23:38 against St. Louis on Thursday. It could just be a maintenance day for Myers, but his name has been in the rumor mill, leading to speculation that a trade is imminent. The front-runner for Myers right now is reportedly Anaheim. The Sabres have back-to-back games over the weekend against the Stars and Islanders.

Myers (ankle) is in the lineup Friday against the Canucks.

Myers injured his ankle blocking a shot in Thursday's game, but was expected to be fine for Friday. That is indeed the case, as he was on the ice for warmups alongside Josh Gorges.

Myers suffered an injury blocking a shot Thursday, but is expected to play Friday against the Canucks, Bill Hoppe of the Times Herald reports.

Myers reportedly blocked a shot off his ankle, but appears to be on track to play Friday, indicating the injury isn't serious. If by some chance he is unavailable Friday, he should receive an updated status prior to Friday's opening faceoff.

The Sabres power play was practicing with Myers in front of the net instead of the points, reports the Olean Times Herald.

Myers is Buffalo's biggest player at 6-foot-8 and serves as an ideal screen on the power play, even though he's got a pretty good point shot. The Sabres' offense has struggled all year and head coach Ted Nolan is trying anything to get the team going. Myers has zero power play goals this season after scoring three last year, and has just one goal in 36 games so far. His shooting percentage is just 1.7 percent but he should get some chances to score from in-close at his new spot. The Bruins have had similar success playing Zdeno Chara as the screen, but only time will tell if this move will pan out for the Sabres. Myers' fantasy value remains minimal at this point.

Myers (lower body) will return to the lineup Tuesday against the Devils.

Myers was expected to rejoin the lineup at some point this week and that date appears to be Tuesday. He has been out since Dec. 20 due to the injury, but returned to practice Friday. The team will have to activate him from injured reserve before the game, which should come either later Monday or at some point Tuesday.

Myers (lower body) skated with the Sabres during Friday's morning session, Bill Hoppe of the Olean Times Herald reports.

He won't be an option for the game later in the evening against the Panthers, but it bodes well for Myers' chances of being available at some point during the Sabres' four-game road trip that begin Saturday. The team is expected to activate the blueliner at some point next week.

Myers (lower body) is nearing a return and could join the team on its upcoming roadtrip.

Myers is reportedly "close" to making a return, and while he likely won't be able to play in the first of four straight road games Saturday in New York, coach Ted Nolan left the door open for a potential return later in the trip. Buffalo plays Tuesday in New Jersey, Thursday in Carolina and Friday in Tampa Bay.

Myers (lower body) has been placed on injured reserve, The Buffalo News reports.

Myers is still considered week-to-week, and the transaction clears room for Tyson Strachan (upper body) to end his own stint on injured reserve.

Myers (lower body) wasn't on the ice for Saturday's morning skate and looks to be out for the tilt later in the evening with the Islanders, Bill Hoppe of the Olean Times Herald reports.

Prior to the three-day holiday break, coach Ted Nolan hadn't ruled out Myers from returning to action Saturday, but after reassessing his condition when the team reunited for morning skate, the medical staff evidently determined he wasn't fit to play. Myers will retain a week-to-week designation for now, with no upgrade to his status coming until he resumes skating.
