Matt Moulson LW BUF 2 Months

Moulson has yet to score in 10 games this season, the worst start of his career.

The Sabres are struggling on offense as a team, but the three-time 30-goal scorer is being counted on as one of the team's go-to guys. He's been a fixture on the top line with Tyler Ennis and Drew Stafford, and head coach Ted Nolan seems hesitant to break up his top line, but it may be necessary to get the team going. There's been a lot of negative energy to start the season despite lots of excitement during the preseason as the Sabres continue their re-build. If Moulson continues his cold streak he won't be worth owning in any league in any format.

Moulson has produced no goals, two assists and a minus-4 rating over nine games with the Sabres this season.

As is the case team-wide, scoring opportunities have remained infrequent for Moulson, who re-committed to the Sabres on a five-year, $25 million contract in the offseason. He still ranks second on the team with 20 shot attempts, but he'll need to find the net with more regularity for the Sabres to have any hope of staying competitive. Nonetheless, with each passing game, it's looking increasingly likely that Moulson could fall below the 20-goal plateau for the first time in his career over a full season.

Matt Moulson has returned to the Sabres for five years and $25 million.

Moulson played on three teams last season and had some success in Buffalo even though he finished the season playing poorly for Minnesota. Moulson is a sharp shooter and will certainly play on the Sabres' top line and first power-play unit. We see him returning to a 30-35 goal level of production.

Matt Moulson has probably played in his last game with the Minnesota Wild.

Moulson is set to become an unrestricted free agent this summer. The Wild acquired him from the Buffalo Sabres to give them a boost going into the playoffs, but Moulson ended up with just three points in 10 postseason games while averaging 14:59 minutes. Not exactly the type of numbers you want out of a player that will be presumably looking for a big payday.

Matt Moulson could be a healthy scratch Friday night in Game 4.

He didn't have a place on Minnesota's top-four lines during Thursday's practice. Matt Cooke, who is set to return from his seven-game suspension, skated on the third line alongside Erik Haula and Justin Fontaine in Moulson's place. He has recorded just one goal and two assists in 10 playoff games with the Wild. There's also the possibility that Moulson could be playing hurt and Cooke's return will give Minnesota a chance to rest him for a game.

Matt Moulson scored his first goal of the playoffs on Saturday.

That was also Moulson's first point of the postseason. The Wild acquired Moulson from the Islanders to bolster their top-six for their playoff run and so far he hasn't lived up to expectations. The Wild are down 3-2 in their series against Colorado, so they have to hope that Moulson will break out now.
