Mitchell (foot) was placed on injured reserve Sunday.

The foot injury is set to sideline Mitchell until at least after the Christmas break, so his status won't change with the move to IR. With Cody McCormick (lower body) also landing on IR in advance of Sunday's game against the Bruins, both Tim Schaller and Mark Pysyk were recalled from AHL Rochester.

Mitchell's foot injury is considered to be a week-to-week concern, Bill Hoppe of the Olean Times Herald reports.

With Mitchell yet to resume skating since leaving Monday's game with the foot injury, the Sabres aren't expecting him to return in the near future. He could be placed on injured reserve in the coming days as the Sabres look to add further depth at forward.

Mitchell (foot) will not play Tuesday against the Jets.

Mitchell took a shot off his foot in Monday's victory over the Senators, and he's evidently still hurting too much to play a day later. Mikhail Grigorenko was recalled from AHL Rochester after Monday's match and will take over Mitchell's spot in the lineup.

Mitchell departed Monday's game against the Senators with a lower body injury and will not return.

Prior to exiting, Mitchell logged 4:04 of ice time and did not record a point. Consider him day-to-day and questionable for Tuesday's game until the team releases further details.

Mitchell suffered a foot injury Saturday against the Capitals, but his presence at practice suggests it wasn't anything too severe. He was skating as the second-line center Tuesday and looks on track to play Wednesday versus the Jets.

Mitchell potted his second goal of the season in Thursday's 6-3 loss to the Wild.

It took Mitchell nearly a month to score for a second time this season, which figures to be the norm for the center. Though he's been playing on the second line for the Sabres, Mitchell's skill set is better utilized on a checking line duty, as his weak point totals would reflect. Once Cody Hodgson gets going offensively, look for coach Ted Nolan to move Mitchell back to a bottom-six role.

Mitchell scored a second-period goal in Tuesday's win over the Hurricanes.

Mitchell's shot from the left circle was his first shot attempt of the season, spanning over 50 minutes of ice time. Needless to say, the Sabres aren't counting on Mitchell for much more than to provide capable defense as a member of the team's bottom-six, a role that won't warrant much fantasy interest.

Torrey Mitchell saw a great deal of ice time with Buffalo as a penalty killer.

In nine games with the Sabres, nearly 19 percent of his ice time was spent shorthanded and the team was good over that span with a 26-for-29 success rate. Despite the small sample size, Mitchell ended up first on the team with 2:57 of penalty kill time per game. He scored his first point with Buffalo in the team's regular season finale after he was promoted to a line with Cody Hodgson and Zemgus Girgensons.

Torrey Mitchell is among the Buffalo Sabres players returning to action against the Detroit Red Wings on Tuesday.

Mitchell isn't particularly fantasy relevant, so JFYI.
