Torrey Mitchell potted a goal for Minnesota in Chicago Thursday night but it was too little and too late as the Blackhawks won the game and the opening-round playoff series against the Wild.

Mitchell's goal was his only one of the series. Assists went to Kyle Brodziak and Marco Scandella. The Wild obtained high-priced free agents Zach Parise and Ryan Suter in the off-season but still have a long way to go before it can be considered a legitimate Stanley Cup defender. Don't be surprised if Mike Yeo is canned as the Wild's coach as this team didn't come close to its pre-season expectations.

Torrey Mitchell had an assist on Monday.

Mitchell has four goals and seven points in 32 games this season. He's on a three-game point streak, but we still can't recommend grabbing him even as a short-term option in standard leagues.

Torrey Mitchell netted his first goal of the season on Sunday.

It proved to be a timely one as it led to Minnesota's 3-2 victory over Detroit. Mitchell now has two points in 13 games this season. Don't expect him to do much offensively in 2013.

Look for Torrey Mitchell, Matt Kassian and Marco Scandella to be healthy scratches on Monday.

Coach Mike Yeo said that he is going with the same lineup that won on Saturday meaning the three will be in the press box. Mitchell had only one assist in 10 games before being benched Saturday.

Torrey Mitchell has agreed to a standard player contract with the San Francisco Bulls of the ECHL.

The Bulls are an affiliate of Mitchell's former team, the San Jose Sharks. "The entire organization is excited about seeing Torrey in a San Francisco Bulls uniform," said President/Head Coach Pat Curcio. "We know how much of a fan favorite Torrey was with San Jose. We expect Bulls fans to feel the same way when they see him play at the Cow Palace." Mitchell inked a three-year pact worth $5.7 million with Minnesota back in July.

The Minnesota Wild have signed Torrey Mitchell to a three-year/$5.7 million contract.

Good signing by the Wild as Mitchell is a good bottom-six forward but has little fantasy value. He played four seasons with the Sharks and had nine goals and 19 points in 76 games last season. Look for similar stats with the Wild in 2012-13.

Torrey Mitchell will become an unrestricted free agent on Sunday.

The Sharks decided to allow the bottom-six forward to test the market as they did not offer him a contract. "I had a great five years there, great experience," Mitchell said. "It's a business -- there's no hard feelings at all." Look for Mitchell to catch on elsewhere but have very little fantasy value.
