OTTAWA (7) vs. PITTSBURGH (1) MUST-STARTS Ottawa: Erik Karlsson, Craig Anderson, Daniel Alfredsson Pittsburgh: Sidney Crosby, Evgeni Malkin, James Neal, Kris Letang, Chris Kunitz, Jarome Iginla SLEEPERS Ottawa: Kyle Turris, Sergei Gonchar, Milan Michalek, Cory Conacher Pittsburgh: Brenden Morrow, Paul Martin, Jussi Jokinen, Tomas Vokoun read more | 10 Days Ottawa Senators Milan Michalek had a "maintenance day" on Sunday, but the Ottawa Senators said he'll be ready for Game 1 against the Pittsburgh Penguins. It's been an up-and-down season for the winger after he broke out in 2011-12 because of injuries. It's worth noting that he's been connecting on a little less than seven percent of his shots in both the regular season (6.9) and playoffs (6.7) so a moderate breakout is plausible. | 19 Days Ottawa Senators Milan Michalek tallied the lone goal for the Senators in their 3-1 loss in Game 2 of their first-round series with the Canadiens on Friday night. Michalek's goal came at 8:16 of the second period, cutting the Sens' deficit to 2-1 for 10 minutes. The winger has never been great in the playoffs; in 48 playoff games, notching just 11 goals and 18 points, so this is certainly a good sign as this series continues. Chris Phillips and Andre Benoit picked up the assists on the goal. The Senators went 0-for-4 on the power play, and even though they finished with 30 shots, they had 34 more blocked. | UPDATES: Both Pittsburgh forwards James Neal and Jussi Jokinen appeared to be hurt after last night's game against the Islanders, as they were seen limping out of the locker room. Jokinen appears to be ok, as he was at practice today. Not quite so sure for Neal. OTTAWA (7) vs. MONTREAL (2) MUST-STARTS Ottawa: Erik Karlsson, Daniel Alfredsson, Craig Anderson Montreal: P.K. He got a "maintenance day" from the team on Tuesday, but was back on the ice Wednesday. Michalek notched just four goals and 10 assists in 23 regular-season appearances, so he'll be looking to improve his play in the playoffs. | 22 Days Ottawa Senators Chris Phillips and Milan Michalek both sat out practice Tuesday in what the Senators termed a "maintenance day." Phillips played in all 48 games this season while Michalek made just 17 appearances due to a knee injury. Both players are expected to be ready for Thursday's Game 1 against the Canadiens. | |
