Milan Michalek LW OTT 5 Days

Michalek (upper body) has been activated from injured reserve and will play Monday against the Sabres, Bruce Garrioch of the Ottawa Sun reports.

The Sabres cleared a spot for Michalek's return by placing Marc Methot (back) on IR in a corresponding move. He's been skating with the team since Friday and appears to set to play on what looks to be the third line Monday with Colin Greening and David Legwand.

Michalek (upper body) joined the team for Friday's practice, TSN 1200's Steve Lloyd reports.

Because he's already been placed on injured reserve, Michalek won't be an option for Saturday's game against the Bruins. If he's able to practice again Saturday and Sunday without any setbacks, there's a good likelihood that Michalek would be activated in advance of the Senators' following match Monday in Buffalo.

Michalek (upper body) was placed on injured reserve Wednesday, Ian Mendes of TSN 1200 reports.

Michalek's IR designation carries a retroactive date of Dec. 6, meaning he'll be out for at least the next two games. The Senators used his roster spot to activate defenseman Patrick Wiercioch, who has recovered from his muscle strain.

Milan Michalek LW OTT 13 Days

Michalek (upper body) will be out for the Senators' game on Sunday against the Canucks, Wayne Scanlan of the Ottawa Citizen reports.

It is unclear how severe the injury is but for now, Michalek will be replaced by Mark Stone. After a successful 2013-14 season, in which he scored 39 points, Michalek has struggled this season, scoring just two goals and six assists in 25 games played.

Milan Michalek LW OTT 25 Days

Michalek wasn't on the ice for pregame warmups and appears to be a healthy scratch for Tuesday's game against the Blues, Bruce Garrioch of the Ottawa Sun reports.

The Senators have dropped six of their last eight games, and though Michalek hasn't been a total void during that stretch (four points), coach Paul MacLean seems inclined to shake up his lineup with the hope of more positive results. Mika Zibanejad will also spend Tuesday's game with Michalek in the press box, as both Colin Greening and Erik Condra step in to replace them.

Michalek assisted on the Sens' two power-play goals in Saturday's overtime loss to the Devils.

Michalek had been held without a point in the Senators' first five games, but finally was able to break through during his 3:52 on the man advantage Saturday. While he'll continue to contribute on the Sens' second power-play unit, Michalek's role at even strength remains in flux, as he's bounced between the second line and the bottom six this season. The inconsistent quality of linemates could make it difficult for Michalek to replicate the 39 points he tallied in 2013-14 for the Sens.

Michalek (hip flexor) returned to practice Monday, Ken Warren of the Ottawa Citizen reports.

Michalek was off the ice over the weekend after sustaining the hip injury in an earlier practice, but he appears in the clear for the remainder of the Senators' exhibition schedule. The Senators expect to deploy Michalek on their second line this season.

Milan Michalek LW OTT 3 Months

Michalek was held out of Thursday's practice due to a "nagging injury," Wayne Scanlan of the Ottawa Citizen reports.

Coach Don MacLean didn't seem concerned about Michalek potentially missing several days as a result of the injury, so consider his absence from practice as precautionary more than anything. With the Senators not playing their next exhibition game until Tuesday, Michalek should have enough time to recuperate.

Milan Michalek has re-signed with the Senators for three-years and $12 million.

After a disappointing season where he registered a mere 39 points in 82 games, Michalek might be poised for a bit of a bounce-back campaign. That said, he will no longer have Jason Spezza to play alongside of and that may temper the extent of his comeback.

Ottawa GM Bryan Murray is optimistic that Milan Michalek will re-sign with the Senators.

He said "there's a good chance" that Michalek will be back next season. He just completed a six-year, $26 million contract, but it's expected that he won't make close to the $6-million figure he received in 2013-14. He is currently considering an offer from Ottawa.
