Martinez (finger) took part in Tuesday's morning skate, Jon Rosen of LA Kings Insider reports.

Martinez stayed on the ice for extra work following the session, so it does not appear he will play Tuesday. It's not entirely clear when he will be able to play next, as it was reported earlier this week that he would be "out a while;" however, with him skating each of the last two days, it looks like he could return earlier than expected.

Martinez (finger) practiced with the team Monday, Jon Rosen of LA Kings Insider reports.

Martinez was wearing a red non-contact jersey at Monday's practice, so he's probably not that close to returning. It's a good sign that his rehab is progressing, but keep an eye out for him to endure contact at practice before getting back in the lineup.

Coach Darryl Sutter said Martinez (finger) will remain "out a while" and shouldn't be considered day-to-day, Helene Elliott of the Los Angeles Times reports.

Martinez is traveling with the Kings on their road trip, but everything coach Darryl Sutter has said of late suggests that a return isn't imminent for the defenseman. He still needs to have some stitches removed from his finger, which will probably prevent him from doing much stick-handling until that happens.

Though Martinez (finger) was able to skate for a second consecutive day, coach Darryl Sutter believes the blueliner will be out longer than the one week GM Dean Lombardi projected him to miss, Helene Elliott of the Los Angeles Times. "We've just got to wait for the wound to heal and that's going to take some time," Sutter said.

Martinez suffered the injury last Thursday and appeared to be progressing well, but the possible risk of him infecting the finger by returning to action to quickly will prompt the Kings to take things slow with him. The loss of Martinez has been a tough blow to take for a defensive corps that's already without Slava Voynov due to an indefinite suspension.

Martinez (finger) was on the ice again for Thursday's morning skate, but isn't expected to play later in the evening against the Hurricanes, Jon Rosen of LAKingsInsider.com reports.

General manager Dean Lombardi said a few days earlier that he expects Martinez to miss a week, so the blueliner will probably need an additional day of practice before possibly returning to the lineup Saturday against the Stars.

Martinez (finger) skated before practice Wednesday and could return soon, the LA Times reports.

Martinez was expected to miss a week of action which could put him back into the lineup as soon as Thursday if he's able to take part in the morning skate.

Martinez (finger) is expected to miss one week, Lisa Dillman of the LA Times reports.

The news that Martinez needed surgery on his finger was not very encouraging at first, but it sounds like he won't end up missing very much time at all. The blueliner was playing well before suffering the injury, with two goals and five assists in 17 games, including four points in his last three.

Head coach Darryl Sutter provided encouraging details Saturday about Martinez's injury, indicating that Martinez's recent surgery will not keep him out for a long period of time, LA Kings Insider reports.

The nature of the injury had been a mystery, but Sutter said Saturday that Martinez underwent minor surgery on his pinky. "You know what? Everything went well," Sutter said. "It was basically a finger - they had to do some suturing on his finger and clean up his nail a bit. When it heals, then he'll be ready." Sutter didn't provide a timetable for Martinez's expected return, but it doesn't sound like this will be a multi-week absence. This is welcome news for the Kings' depleted blue line.

Martinez underwent surgery on his finger Friday, Elliott Teaford of the Los Angeles News Group reports.

Martinez's timetable hasn't been delineated at this moment, but it will likely cost him an extended period of time. His exact injury hasn't been clarified beyond a finger, but it was bad enough to require surgery. Robyn Regehr is expected to return soon, and will likely provide the team with it's sixth defenseman, as the team is running short. If he can't go Saturday, the team will need to make a move to add an extra blueliner.

Martinez (undisclosed) was not on the ice for Friday's practice, Jon Rosen of LA Kings Insider reports.

Martinez left Thursday's game with an undisclosed injury and his status still hasn't been clarified or updated. At this point he should be considered day-to-day heading into Saturday's game against the Ducks.
