Marleau scored his fifth goal of the season and had an assist in Saturday's win over Dallas.

Marleau has maintained a point-per-game pace this season, producing 15 point sin 15 games, to go with a plus-2 rating. At 35 years of age, the veteran top-liner has shown no signs of slowing down. Keep him rolling.

Marleau dished out two assists and had five shots on goal in Sunday's win over Anaheim.

What a great first 10 games for Marleau, who is tied for second in league scoring with 12 points. Two of his four goals this season have been on the power play, with one of those being a game-winner. Although he is now 35 years of age, Marleau shows no sign of slowing down, with another 70-point season being a definite possibility.

Marleau added two assists to his ledger Tuesday versus the Bruins.

Marleau has been a force offensively for the Sharks in the early stages of the season, accumulating four goals and five assists in seven games. However, the Sharks' back-to-back losses resulted in Marleau taking a collective minus-3 rating during that time, putting him on the negative side of that category for the season.

Marleau registered a goal and assist in Sunday's win over the Devils.

The goal was Marleau's fourth of the season and went down as the game-winner in the 4-2 victory. The 35-year-old has contributed seven points through the Sharks' first five games, demonstrating his usual prowess on the team's second line and top power-play unit.

Marleau contributed a goal and a secondary assist in Saturday's 3-0 win over the Jets.

That's four points in two games for the ageless wonder, whose second-period goal provided added insurance that would be unneeded for goalie Alex Stalock. Marleau took advantage of a puck misplay by the Jets' Zach Bogosian with just 29 seconds remaining in the period, beating goalie Ondrej Pavelec on a breakaway after an outlet pass from Matt Nieto. With no sign thus far that he's slowing down, the 35-year-old can probably again be counted upon to challenge for 70 points.

The Sharks announced Wednesday that they would enter camp without a captain, which includes taking the "A" off Marleau's sweater, the Mercury News reports.

It had been rumored and hinted at all summer that Marleau and captain Joe Thornton would have their leadership roles passed to younger players. It has also been rumored that both were asked to waive their no trade clause. Neither did. The team wants the younger generation to take the torch, but as far as fantasy is concerned, you can't reduce the playing time of a player like Marleau, who scored 33 goals and 37 assists last season.

Patrick Marleau doesn't think he'll be traded by the San Jose Sharks.

"I want to play in San Jose. I want to win there," Marleau said. He has a no-movement clause, so it's ultimately his decision. The same is true for Joe Thornton, who also doesn't seem inclined to accept a trade.

Jeremy Roenick thinks the San Jose Sharks should try to trade Patrick Marleau during the off-season.

"If it were me, like I said, I think Joe Thornton is the captain, and he should stay in place, but they should see what they can get for Patrick Marleau, who has been there his whole career, and maybe he needs a change of scenery and you can get a lot for him," said Roenick. "He's an extremely talented player and you can get a lot on the market for a guy like him, and maybe change the chemistry on the team." Marleau led the Sharks with seven points in seven games in the team's Round 1 playoff loss to Los Angeles, but he was held off the scoresheet in the last three contests of the series. He also finished third on the Sharks with 70 points and second on the club with 33 goals in 82 games during the regular season. Roenick has been critical of Marleau in the past, but he wasn't placing the blame solely on him or Thornton like others have done. The Sharks have talked openly about shaking up their leadership group and dealing Marleau would fit that objective.

Patrick Marleau found it hard to argue against the San Jose Sharks' long-time label as playoff chokers on Wednesday.

"You don't usually agree with it, but then you do something like this, and it's not easy to take," Marleau said. After years of failing to live up to expectations in the postseason, the Sharks jumped to a 3-0 lead against the Kings, only to become the fourth team in NHL history to lose Games 4-7. San Jose has to find a way to address this troubling trend of playoff shortfalls, but it will be hard to do with most of their core, including Marleau, already locked up.
