Brad Marchand snapped a scoring drought Thursday by netting a goal in a 3-2 overtime loss to St. Louis.

Marchand's second half got off to a terrific start, but he had struggled of late as he failed to register a point in four straight contests. The goal is his 18th of the year while David Krejci also found the back of the net in the defeat.

Coach Claude Julien believes Brad Marchand has matured during his career and he's been reeled in again since he taunted the Canucks and their fans in Vancouver on Dec. 14.

"You guys might not see it, but we do. He's been much better," Julien said. "That doesn't mean he doesn't slip once in a while, but he's been much better than he was his first couple of years." Julien wasn't impressed with Marchand's antics and he addressed the issue quickly. In 21 games since then, the pesky forward has 12 goals and 19 points. The Bruins host Vancouver on Tuesday night.

Brad Marchand had a monster game Monday as he notched a goal and three assists in a 6-3 win over the Islanders.

Marchand has been one of the hottest fantasy commodities of late, registering 12 points over his current seven-game scoring streak. Linemates Reilly Smith and Patrice Bergeron each netted a goal and an assist in the win while Zdeno Chara, Loui Eriksson and Carl Soderberg also scored for the Bruins.

He recorded a shorthanded marker in the first period and he scored the game-winner goal in the third just 18 seconds after Jeff Carter tied it. Marchand has amassed six goals and one assist during his current four-game scoring streak. Patrice Bergeron assisted on both of Marchand's goals in the contest, while Torey Krug also found the back of the net in the win.

Brad Marchand, who scored twice in the Boston Bruins' 3-2 loss to the Blackhawks in Chicago Sunday, thinks he has been hot since Dec. 14, a game where he was widely criticized for his ring-kissing antics in Vancouver.

Ever since that Dec. 14 game, however, he has nine goals and three assists in 15 games. "I mean, that was definitely the game where I felt most involved," Marchand said. "I didn't have any points that game, but I could have had a few. I just felt like I was more into the game, and that's what I was struggling with at the start of the year. My mindset wasn't really there, and ever since then, I've been back into it. Maybe it was all the trouble I got into there like good old times, but it's nice to be back."

Marchand has a three-game point streak (3G, 1A), show flashes of the agitating, talented presence that made him an intriguing fantasy winger. He's serving well as a pest again, too, with 46 PIM in 48 GP. He's owned in 56 percent of Yahoo leagues.

His 11th goal of the year opened the scoring in the contest and it snapped a three-game pointless skid. Marchand has struggled to pick up points this season and he currently has a total of 23 in 46 games.

The goal was the 10th of the campaign for Marchand, who hasn't been scoring at his usual pace, but has added a healthy dose of penalty minutes to his stat line. Jarome Iginla and Johnny Boychuk also tallied for the Bruins in the win.

Although he has not had a particularly good half season, Marchand is a fantasy asset to those in hockey pools where short-handed markers are a category. He seems to be playing better in five on five situations as of late skating alongside Reilly Smith and Patrice Bergeron. If you have held on to Marchand all this time, you may finally be realizing a benefit.
