MacArthur potted his eighth goal of the season in Saturday's 4-2 loss to the Flames.

MacArthur has recorded a point in three consecutive games, bringing his total to 13 over 17 games on the season. He hasn't enjoyed a run of truly eye-popping production during any stretch of the season thus far, but his consistency might be a more appreciated quality by his fantasy owners.

MacArthur supplied an empty-net goal in Tuesday's 3-1 win over the Red Wings.

While Tuesday's tally wasn't particularly impressive, it still gives MacArthur his fourth goal and fifth point in the last four games, vaulting into the team lead for the season in both categories.

MacArthur was the lone goal scorer in Monday's 1-0 victory over the Panthers in Sunrise.

MacArthur's first goal of the season was a second-period power-play marker that eventually held up as the game winner. It'll likely be a tall task for the ninth-year NHLer to surpass his career high in goals from last year (24), but with Jason Spezza gone and MacArthur locked into a top-line role with Bobby Ryan and Kyle Turris, there's no reason why he can't at least come close (health permitting). If, by chance, MacArthur is available on your wire, see if you can make space for him: he's looked good beside Ryan and Turris thus far and adds a bit of snarl in the PIM department also (78 last year).

MacArthur inked a five-year, $23.25 million extension with the Senators on Tuesday, Bruce Garrioch of the Ottawa Sun reports.

MacArthur was already under contract for $3.25 million for this season, so the new five year deal won't kick in until 2015-16, keeping him under team control through the end of the 2019-20 campaign. The 29-year-old scored a career-best 24 goals, 78 PIM and a plus-12 rating in his first season in Ottawa, and will be counted on to fill a top-line role long-term on the left wing.

Clarke MacArthur spearheaded the Sens to a 5-3 win over the Chicago Blackhawks on Friday night, scoring a goal and adding two assists.

The 28 year-old made the scoresheet for his second straight game, and increases his output to 23 goals and 52 points through 70 games this season. A pretty solid output from a player with just a $3.25 million cap hit this season.

Clarke MacArthur has been scrappy in his last couple of games.

He has picked up four minutes in the sin bin in each of his past two contests. "You've got to put your energy somewhere. You either go through a guy, or use it on the back check," MacArthur said. "Do something right. I mean we're searching for answers right now and we've got to find a way to change our look here." He also has two goals and two assists over his last five outings.

Clarke MacArthur will be back in the Ottawa lineup Saturday night against Montreal.

He has missed the Senators' last two games with a hand injury but practiced with his old linemates Kyle Turris and Bobby Ryan Friday and delcared himself ready to return. MacArthur has been one of the better Ottawa forwards this season so activate him without delay.

Clarke MacArthur (hand) took part in Wednesday's practice.

MacArthur said his hand is still swollen enough that squeezing is difficult, but he's otherwise better. He's still on target for a return on Saturday.
