Benn got over his quiet first couple games of the season with a goal and three assists in Tuesday's win over the Jackets.

Unsurprisingly, Benn and Tyler Seguin recovered in tandem from their two quiet games to open the campaign, and they should combine for many more points as the year goes on.

Benn finished the preseason with one goal and one assist in four games played.

The 25-year-old center had a breakout season in 2013-14 and he is projected to equal those stats this season. Benn and Tyler Seguin created one of the hottest duos in the league last season and along with Valeri Nichushkin, the line should put up good offensive numbers for Dallas in 2014-15.

Jamie Benn became the first player from the Stars organization to earn a spot on the NHL's First All-Star team.

His move back to left wing during the 2013-14 campaign was a successful one because of Dallas' acquisition of Tyler Seguin. Benn amassed a career high 34 goals and 79 points in 81 games. He also received his Olympic ring from Hockey Canada earlier this week.

Jamie Benn proved over the course of the 2013-14 season that he was the right choice to captain the Dallas Stars.

During the regular season, he set career bests in goals (34), assists (45) and points (79). Benn also helped Canada win a gold medal at the Winter Olympics, where he contributed despite originally being given a reduced role. He played very well during the Stars' first-round playoff loss to Anaheim, where he earned plenty of praise from the Ducks. "He's just a winner," coach Bruce Boudreau said. "He reminds me of those leaders like [Ryan] Getzlaf and [Jarome] Iginla that they'll not only play and do the right things, but they'll fight when they need to. And they do whatever it takes to win."

With their playoff spot already locked up, the Dallas Stars made various players healthy scratches, including top winger Jamie Benn.

The Stars are facing the Phoenix Coyotes in a contest many expected would decide a postseason spot, but instead they get a chance to catch a break. It obviously hurts fantasy owners on what could be their own playoff-deciding days, especially since Benn is on a five-game point streak (four goals and four assists).

Jamie Benn will be going to the playoffs for the first time in his career.

"It means a lot - every kid dreams of playing in the playoffs and trying to win the Stanley Cup," Jamie Benn said. "I believe we have a great group this year that can do some damage." Benn certainly did his part to push Dallas over the top in 2013-14 by scoring 34 goals and 79 points in 81 games. He might be a healthy scratch on Sunday to give him a breather before the postseason.
