Lupul tallied a pair of goals in Tuesday's win over the Stars.

That's back-to-back two-point games for Lupul, who has typically been a useful secondary scorer for the Leafs when he hasn't been banged up. Now that he seems fully recovered from a broken hand that cost him 12 games, Lupul could be worth a speculative add in mid-sized or deeper formats.

Lupul (hand) was taken off injured reserve in preparation for his return Wednesday versus the Penguins, James Mirtle of the Globe and Mail reports.

The broken hand cost Lupul approximately four weeks, but lengthy absences aren't new for the forward at this stage of his injury-riddled career. Though his track record suggests he'll miss time later on this season due to another injury, Lupul has been a productive player when he's been able to suit up. He collected two goals in his first nine games this season before suffering the broken hand.

Lupul (hand) has been ruled out for Saturday's game against the Red Wings, Mark Masters of TSN reports.

As expected, the Maple Leafs want to give Lupul a few additional days to recover from the broken hand, so he'll set his sights on returning from IR in advance of Wednesday's tilt with the Penguins. Lupul will miss his 12th straight game with the injury.

Lupul (hand) practiced again Friday but isn't expected to make his return to action Saturday against the Red Wings, Jonas Siegel of TSN Radio 1050 reports.

Though Lupul was on the ice for the third straight day, he was still practicing in the maroon sweater worn by the team's other injured players. That would seem to indicate that Lupul isn't being viewed as a lineup option for the Detroit game, but with the Leafs off the schedule after that until next Wednesday, he should be ready to go by that time.
