Ville Leino's status for Saturday night's game against Tampa is still up in the air.

Ville Leino exited Thursday's game early after he felt lightheaded.

"Ville, he got a little lightheaded in the first period, so they took him out of precautionary reasons, did some testing on him," interim coach Ted Nolan said. "I'll have to talk to the medical guys to see what the exact problem was, but he just wasn't feeling very good." He played just two shifts for 58 seconds of ice time. The 2013-14 campaign is coming to an end and Leino is still looking for his first goal. He has 12 assists in 52 games.

Ville Leino will play on Tuesday after spending two games in the press box.

The season's almost over and Leino still hasn't scored a goal. It wouldn't be surprising if the Sabres use a compliance buyout on Leino over the summer. He comes with a $4.5 million cap hit through 2016-17.

Ville Leino has firmly entrenched himself in interim coach Ted Nolan's doghouse.

He centered the fourth line between John Scott and Matt Ellis at Monday's practice and he's likely to start Tuesday's game against Florida there as well. "We're looking for people that want to compete and want to work," Nolan said. "It doesn't matter what your skill level is. It's nothing with no will. We have to get him competing at a certain level. Some days he shows it. Some days he doesn't. You're frustrated with most people that don't do it on a consistent basis. He's showed some signs lately." Leino has no goals and just 22 shots in 30 games with the Sabres this season. He has collected just six assists and has no fantasy value right now.
