Kari Lehtonen G DAL 7 Days

Lehtonen was the first goalie off the ice at Thursday's morning skate and appears in line to start against the Penguins, Seth Rorabaugh of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.

Lehtonen has been excellent in two starts with a 1.92 GAA and .934 save percentage, but he'll certainly have his work cut out for him on the road against the powerful Penguins. Pittsburgh has blasted the opposition for 11 goals in their two games, and with the Stars not lacking in offensive firepower either, it wouldn't be surprising if a shootout materialized here. Tread carefully.

Lehtonen made 33 saves on 35 shots in Tuesday's win over the Blue Jackets.

Lehtonen's turned in very fine work in both of his starts to open the year and has plenty of job security as the Stars' top netminder. Roll him as long as he can stay healthy.

Lehtonen is on track to start Tuesday's game against the Blue Jackets, Mike Heika of The Dallas Morning News reports.

Lehtonen was the first goalie off the ice following Tuesday's morning skate, which puts him in position to start Tuesday night. He was a hard-luck loser in his first start of the season, picking up the loss despite giving up just two goals in 65:00 TOI.

Lehtonen was at the wrong end of a shootout loss Thursday against the Blackhawks.

Lehtonen played respectably in regulation, turning away 24 of 26 shots to at least allow the Stars to come away with a point. He'll likely be back in goal when the Stars head to Nashville for Saturday's contest.

Lehtonen (concussion) returned to the ice Thursday morning, Mike Heika of the Dallas Morning News reports.

This would seem to support coach Lindy Ruff's claim earlier in the week that his netminder was feeling fine after suffering a light concussion Monday. With Dallas' preseason schedule now concluded, expect Lehtonen to be back in the net for the team's regular-season opener Oct. 9 against the Blackhawks.

Lehtonen felt fine Tuesday after leaving Monday's game with a mild concussion, Mark Stepneski of the Stars' official website reports.

Head coach Lindy Ruff said Lehtonen will sit out a few days, but he does not believe that Lehtonen is dealing with a serious setback. Lehtonen will need to be cleared to resume playing, but it appears he should be available for Opening Night.

Lehtonen suffered a mild concussion during Monday's exhibition game and will be forced to stay off the ice for the next couple of days under NHL protocol, Mike Heika of the Dallas Morning News reports.

Lehtonen will likely play a crucial part in the Stars' success this season, so they might ultimately play it safe and leave him off the ice even after he's cleared to play. Most importantly for the Stars, it doesn't appear that Lehtonen is in danger of missing the opener on Oct. 9.

Lehtonen will start Monday's exhibition against the Panthers and is expected to play the full game.

Lehtonen was on tap to play a full contest Friday vs. the Lightning, but he was pulled after two periods upon surrendering five goals. He'll look to recover from the dismal showing, but regardless of how he performs Monday, the reality is that, if healthy, Lehtonen is poised to see one of the heaviest workloads in the league this season, with backup Anders Lindback not representing a threat to his job.

Don't be surprised if Dallas trades for a young goalie to back up starter Kari Lehtonen.

They have highly touted Jack Campbell in their system, but the 22-year-old can't seem to stay healthy. So the Stars may look outside the organization for an up and coming netminder. One of Boston's young stud prospects Malcolm Subban and Niklas Svedberg may be available. As well, Detroit may be willing to part with Petr Mrazek or Tom McCollum if they re-sign UFA Jonas Gustavsson. Stay tuned.

Veteran goalie Kari Lehtonen stopped 25 Anaheim shots but allowed five goals en route to the Stars' 5-4 overtime loss to the Ducks in Dallas Sunday night.

The loss eliminated the Stars from the playoffs in six games. It would be stretching it to suggest that Lehtonen had anything more than an average series. His GAA was 3.29 and he finished with a save percentage of .885.
