Guillaume Latendresse has been released from his professional tryout with the Coyotes. He had been playing well for Phoenix during the preseason, but the team is looking at other players for roster spots. The team also sent down Mathieu Brodeur and James Melindy to the AHL.

Forward Guillaume Latendresse, who is at camp on a professional tryout basis, is leading the Coyotes in preseason scoring with four points in two games. Latendresse has notched two goals and two assists and is plus-3. Clearly, his chances of cracking the Coyotes' roster are strong. He played for Ottawa in 27 games last season, where he had six goals and 10 points. He also contributed two points in the playoffs for the Senators.

Guillaume Latendresse wasn't sure if he was in Ottawa's plans and now he knows that he will be permitted to test the market as an unrestricted free agent. "It seems official now. Thanks to the fans, management, owner of the Sens. An A1 class organization," he tweeted on Wednesday in a bit of a farewell announcement. He missed 21 games this past season, while sitting due to injury and as a healthy scratch. Latendresse had six goals and 10 points in the 27 contests he did play.

Guillaume Latendresse isn't sure if he'll be back in Ottawa next season. "It didn't work the way we wanted (this season), but that's the game," he said. "That's the NHL. It's not an easy league and I have to be better, I have to do things better. You never want to close any doors. We'll see. For sure I think I can bring something to an NHL team. I think I can be a player who is in the lineup every night." He is set to become an unrestricted free agent in July after an unsuccessful stint with the Senators. In 27 games this past season, he contributed six goals and 10 points. Latendresse also had two points in three playoff appearances.

Guillaume Latendresse lit the lamp in Ottawa's 4-2 win in Game 1 of their first-round series. Beyond Erik Karlsson's big night, the Senators received contributions from the players you'd least expect to help offensively. Latendresse's goal was his first in 13 playoff games -- and his first goal since April 9. He played 12:08.

After being a periodic healthy scratch, the Ottawa Senators are giving Guillaume Latendresse a shot in Sunday's significant game against the Boston Bruins. This is a chance for the ill-fated winger to show that he deserves to be in the starting lineup come playoff time. Ottawa can move to the seventh seed with a win on Sunday, so the Sens have something on the line.

Guillaume Latendresse will be a healthy scratch against Toronto Saturday night. The Sens believe that Matt Kassian is a better option against their bitter Ontario rivals. We are inclined to agree.
