David Krejci C BOS 13 Days

Krejci and the Bruins have come to terms on a six-year, $43.5 million extension, Amalie Benjamin of the Boston Globe reports.

In locking up Krejci before next summer, the Bruins were able to keep the center off the open market, where an even higher bidding war between multiple clubs likely would have occurred. The 28-year-old was largely invisible for the Bruins during their early exit in the playoffs in 2013-14, but he's finished as a top-three scorer for the team in each of the last six regular seasons.

David Krejci was critical of his playoff performance after he failed to score a goal in 12 games.

"As a top centerman if you don't put a puck in the net, you didn't help your team win the game," he said after Game 7's 3-1 loss to Montreal. "It is what it is. People can talk, guys can talk about whatever they want. But as a top centerman if you don't put the puck in the net in two rounds, you don't give the team a chance to win the game or the series. I felt like I could (have scored) a couple of times, but I didn't. I didn't do my job in the playoffs." He earned his fourth assist of the postseason on Jarome Iginla's goal on Wednesday night. Krejci finished with 25 shots and a minus-3 rating.

David Krejci and his Bruins teammates were unable to beat Carey Price in Monday's 4-0 loss to the Canadiens in Montreal.

The Boston playmaker has struggled throughout the series, having registered one solitary point in the six contests to-date. We have seen Krejci play the role of playoff hero in the past so perhaps he shaved up some magic for Wednesday's Game 7 on home ice.

The Bruins' top line featuring David Krejci, Jarome Iginla and Milan Lucic has been a total non-factor in the series against Montreal.

The unit is going to have to play better if the Bruins are going to get by Montreal. The hope is that back at home at the TD Garden Krejci and company will respond to an enthusiastic Boston crowd. It didn't work in the first two games of the series but that doesn't mean it won't work Saturday night.

David Krejci has three assists in his last four games, but he hasn't recorded a goal in seven matches during the 2014 playoffs.

He led the Bruins with 69 points in 80 games during the regular season. Krejci might have more points during the postseason if linemates Milan Lucic and Jarome Iginla capitalized on some more of their chances. If he is going to start putting more pucks in the back of the net then more shots would help. He has been credited with 16 in the playoffs and four times he's registered just one shot.

He had a goal and a helper in a 5-2 win over Philadelphia. Krejci picked up nine assists going into Saturday's contest, so he wasn't completely silent offensively. Still, he has enjoyed one of his better seasons in 2013-14, with 17 goals and 66 points in 78 games.

David Krejci is dealing with a sore throat, according to coach Claude Julien.

Depending on the severity of the issue, the Bruins could decide to rest their leading scorer. For the time being, we are still expecting Krejci to play on Wednesday night against Detroit. If his status changes then we'll let you know.
