Mikko Koivu is projected to play between Dany Heatley and Charlie Coyle in his return to action on Monday.

That means that Mikael Granlund will retain his spot alongside Zach Parise for now. However, Koivu could still end up seeing time with Parise at some point down the line. "Very excited," said Koivu regarding his return. "It's been a long wait. Kinda frustrating all the time after the [Jan. 6] surgery. Very excited. Little bit nervous, but that's part of the step to take to the game. It'll be fun."

Mikko Koivu (ankle) probably won't return on Thursday.

Part of the reason for that is Wild coach Mike Yeo's reluctance to use Koivu in back-to-back games off the bat. Minnesota is scheduled to play again on Friday and Koivu is much more likely to play in that contest.

Mikko Koivu participated in Wednesday's practice, but he isn't ready to return from a broken ankle yet.

"As soon as I can, I will play," he said. "But I thought I would be ready right now in the Olympics [for Finland], so I don't really want to put a timetable on when I'm going to play. As long as it's getting better each and every day, I'm happy." Koivu had surgery two days after breaking his ankle on Jan. 4.
