Kennedy played for the first time since December 6 on Tuesday, registering one shot and a plus-1 rating in a win over Arizona.

Kennedy's season, an important one for his career after a couple of down years, has been derailed by injuries. Two extended injuries have kept him out of all but 14 games just past the season's mid-point. He has three goals and two assist in those 14 games.

Kennedy (shoulder) was activated from injured reserve Tuesday.

Kennedy absorbed contact at Monday's practice and was given clearance by doctors to return to game action. He'll replace Andrew Desjardins (personal) on the Sharks' fourth line for their game Tuesday in Arizona.

Kennedy has been getting more and more involved at practice and coach Todd McLellan says Kennedy could begin to push himself into physical battles in the next week to ten days, according to CSN Bay Area.

That's great news for the Sharks, who will benefit from the depth he provides, but fantasy owners shouldn't get too excited. Kennedy has spent most of the season hampered by injuries and has yet to prove that last season's poor showing was an aberration and not what we should expect from him going forward.

Kennedy (left shoulder) was on the ice for a workout with the Sharks' strength and conditioning coach Friday, Kevin Kurz of CSN Bay Area reports.

Kennedy doesn't appear particularly close to a return, as he's not yet been cleared to practice with the rest of the Sharks. He'll likely continue to skate on his own for the next couple of days.

Coach Todd McLellan said Kennedy would be out "awhile" after suffering a shoulder injury Saturday in Calgary, Kevin Kurz of CSN Bay Area reports.

McLellan was uncertain if Kennedy would require surgery, but it's clear a long-term absence is in store after he was forced to leave the arena Saturday in an arm sling. The timing of the injury is troubling for the 28-year-old, who had submitted perhaps the best game of his career with San Jose in his return from injured reserve last Thursday versus the Bruins, scoring two goals on four shot attempts.

Kennedy is out indefinitely with a shoulder injury, CSN Bay Area reports.

The extent of Kennedy's injury is uncertain, but he was placed on injured reserve Monday, so he will be out a week, and potentially longer. The Sharks have yet to announce who will be recalled to take Kennedy's place on the roster.

Kennedy was seen leaving the arena after Saturday's game in Calgary with his arm in a sling and he won't suit up Sunday against Edmonton, according to David Pollak of the Mercury News.

Kennedy played just 1:38 on Saturday before leaving the game. No official word on what the injury is and whether he'll play, but Pollak believes Kennedy will be out Sunday for sure. Kennedy has had a rough season so far, missing time with multiple injuries. He's only been back on the roster for two games since his last, unrelated lower body injury.

Kennedy (lower body) bagged two goals on four shot attempts in his return to the ice Thursday against the Bruins.

Kennedy had missed the previous two games with the injury, but helped the Sharks finish off the Bruins in the final period. His second goal of the night held up as the game-winner and gave the winger five points in 12 games on the season.

Kennedy (lower body) was activated from injured reserve Thursday, Kevin Kurz of CSN Bay Area reports.

Coach Todd McLellan said Kennedy would be in the lineup for Thursday's game against the Bruins, but where he plays won't be known until the Sharks have a better feel for the status of Logan Couture (head), who is questionable to play. Kennedy missed two games with the lower-body ailment but was able to return to full practice Monday.

Kennedy (lower body) looked to be a full participant in practice Monday, Kevin Kurz of CSN Bay Area reports.

This would indicate that the injury that landed Kennedy on IR over the weekend isn't overly serious, and while he won't be available for Tuesday's game against the Flyers, he could be an option for Thursday's tilt with the Bruins. The Sharks already have 23 players on their active roster and would need to clear a spot for Kennedy once he's ready to return.
